August 20, 20196 yr Haven't tried the LES Saab yet - I know it by reputation - and just learned yesterday that it's pending an update. I might look at the Carenado (the X-Plane Carenados tend to be much better than the FSX/P3D ones, thanks to Thranda...) If you want to take a look at the Rotate before committing, there's a lot of good YouTube coverage. I recommend Froogle's two-part tutorial - he covers a lot of procedural ground and it's a good way to get a handle on how it compares to the Leonardo Maddog. Like a lot of people, he was negative about it to start, but apparently it's been in good shape since the 1.3 update (now on 1.4), and his tutorial is a second look. I've got the FF757, Toliss A319, FlyJSim 727 & 737, Zibo 738 - All good. Also the carenado SF340 which is pretty good (I've got a few years RW time on it), the LES SF340 that I've had issues and have parked it till the next patch....some have no issues with it. Two smaller aircraft worth checking out are the TBM900 (very good, G1000 excellent) and the milviz C30rt (good as well). I think I will add the Rotate after reading your description of it. Given you have RW exp with the SAB, have you ever seen one that uses VNAV ? I was asking in a different post why there was a VNV button on the MCP ? I know the FMS should provide VNAV advisories but not full autopilot functionality. Thnx
August 27, 20196 yr The ones I flew (B & B+) never had an fms....just a very simple trimble gps that was used for "direct to" only. This was back in the 90s before gps/rnav approaches became widespread. Approaches were the old fashioned ndb, vor, ils stuff. Worked just fine though later till retirement I did use a lot of RNAV approaches etc and really loved them. I wonder how many of the newer crop of pilots are really profficient at something like a ndb approach to mins if the gps ever craps out and I've seen it word not allowed out.
