Found my first speed trees this morning in P3D

Recommended Posts

I have the Orbx Northern California scenery and this morning I went to KRHV parking 1 GA small ramp, and right in front of my aircraft is a tree blowing in the breeze... Looks pretty cool.

I have seen those only once and that was on the runway in the default flight with the F35 (fresh install).

How do I place SpeedTree Models?

- Open SimDirector

- Choose Scenery category

- Choose vegetation_st subcategory

- Drag and drop items from the list into the scene

- (Optional) chose File->Export Scenery to save your placement out as bgl

Can SpeedTree models be placed as autogen vegetation?

Not at this time. We chose to add library object support first as it allows users to place trees in SimDirector without using the SDK. Some additional SpeedTree integration will be required to support autogen vegetation.

Can I make my own tree models?

This would require special licensing with IDV. See http://www.speedtree.com/ for more details.

LM/P3d seem to be playing this pretty close tight their chests...

Are there any licensing restrictions?

See licenses\SpeedTree (IDV).txt and the Prepar3D EULA for licensing details.

WOW That is awesome

I tried this just now.. When I invoke Simdirector, I get the tool and I am within the scenery

But nowhere do I see "scenery category". Hmm...
