Bad performance at night P3D v3.4

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently did some night flights around Europe and I noticed that my frames are really bad (ca. 15FPS). During the day I get 40 to 60 FPS. I don't know why I lose performance during the night. Does anyone know how to get better frames at night?

My system:

i7 [email protected]

GTX980ti

16 GB RAM at 2133mhz

Asus Maximus Vii Hero

Have a nice weekend

Greetings

Alex

I lose a lot of frames at night too with autogen lights running.  It's why I never buy any of the add-ons that enhance night lights.  I would love to be able to have my sim look like how they always do in promo videos but it is never the case.  I just know it's going to turn the simulator into a slide show.  The solution is always to dial it all back... but what is the point then if you only get one highway light every 300 feet?   It just looks bad then.

I use Night Environment with Autogen disabled , lod at low , water at low .

Good performance with NE lights at 50%.

It looks great when flying in the dark .

That does look great.   I would primarily use Night Environment over my MegaSceneryEarth Photoreal but have been on the fence because I have tried light stuff before and always get bad performance.  Never thought about shutting off Autogen for night flights.   With Photoreal it is disabled automatically but I don't fly with PS all the time.   We'll give this a shot.

I also have good performance with NE Germany at 50%. 4K@25HZ unlimited fps. Great at Frankfurt with Aerosofts latest edition and the NGX. Just go easy on LOD autogen and some shadows

This is with FranceVFR PACA 1 V2 , NE France V2 and Justsim Nice .

Because of my IPhone recording the nightlighting colors look the same, but from within the cockpit it is like on the pic I posted...

Gerard,

it looks incredibly realistic - I would say it was XP10 if no one told me what sim was running !
