steps to repair fsx gold edition

Featured Replies

Twas indeed Charlie, I tried even to move the files to DeskTop by c/p thinking FSX would think the files were deleted ???And then build new ones,as described in the link, ut it wasn't the case. I am back to square 1; Still investigating. I have a clean install copy of FSX on an external HD I just might move this onto my computer nd hope the fault is not my G.C.( This shows WorldWide) So I think all textures are corrupted. I can't even uninstall the last Nvidia driver because the choice is Grey( Not Available). So Unwilliingly I think I'm looking at a complete reinstall of this 7 year old installation.

Thanks for your advice.

Here's what I did, I cut both folders and pasted them to desktop, to be safe, then open up FSX, result the image above. Have returned the folders to the original folder.

Here is what the Ground Textures look like during the day

@Berlopez Are you repairing this particular installation for fun or do you just want to play FSX? If you want to just play FSX, there is another option. FSX Steam in on sale now at 80% off or U$4.99 (Save 80% on Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition on Steam (steampowered.com)) Installation time is about 5 minutes?

Moderator(s) please feel free to delete this post if it's stepping over the line (ie. recommending another flight simulator. I thought it would be ok though since FSX Steam is still FSX).

Since this is a suggestion to install another sim, thanks you very much !I am about to reinstall my whole set up from original FSX \Acceleration discs ( Gold Edition) and then reinstate my addons, Hopefuly the issue dissapears with this and the problem is not my Graphic Card Nvidia GeForce 1070.

Is there a way to test the GC outside FS. I have used dxdiag and run the different tests, I says to all no problem found.

  • 2 weeks later...

Managed to reinstall FSX Gold as per intructions found in the net, after I installed FSX I started it after double clicking the Icon I am being met by an Error Code:1-80004005 Ignored this and  loaded by default, in flight in Friday Harbour, had of course fixed textures, and all looked fine, then I went my local airport, Add-On Kastrup scenery (Denmark) put the sim to start on an active runway and here I was met by blincking Shadows or blocks of all shapes???

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

As I wrote above, managed to reinstall FSX/Accel but got the error message for activation.

Fallowed the instruction in the link provided by CharlieAron and braved myself to go nd open the registry, when i got to the page where i had to delete the entries and only leave PartMng I stopped and didn't go any further, fearing I could go wrong and screw thing up in Windows !?! Not knowing better, how does one edit the registry and if anyone is needed which Editor is adviced ?
