Night lighting (city lights)

Featured Replies

I'm on a Mac with XP 10.51. Airport runway and approach lighting looks good, as does road traffic, but I get poor city lighting at night. I have many add-on airports (payware and freeware), and the only non-airport scenery that I have is in a folder zzz_hd_global-scenery2 (which I think is more "mesh" than "scenery").

Are there any pay/free ware recommendations to get good night lighting when overflying urban areas? Any help much appreciated.

Thanks, Bruce.

I just compare the Denver area in XPX to what it looks like when I'm actually night flying. I don't expect real life lighting, but adding some brightness might be good. I've found an old post with a version of lights.txt that I might try, it seems to increase the intensity of existing lighting.

Have you tried RTH?  You can brighten the lights on the go.  I actually like XP for the dimmer nights.  At least here in the small city/country areas it looks good!

Thanks Ryan and Strider, much appreciated.

For sure ! I really like the industrial lights ! I haven't used the other three. Ive been bugging Austin for a few years to add some more lights to the residential buildings. It's still to dark for my taste.

It should be noted that the European style lighting file won't work in XP11, so perhaps waiting until XP11 comes out would be better to see if they fix the lighting?
