November 28, 20169 yr Just wondering if there is a way to toggle the view as with FSX/P3D.. from what i can see there isnt, you have to map buttons for each view desired.. less desirable from a VR perspective.. And on the subject of slew... i assume there is no slew option either.. whats the next best alternative? So far just using the map seems be the only short fix. November 28, 20169 yr I've also been looking for that... Would like to know the replies. Regards, Vital Vanbeginne
November 28, 20169 yr For slew maybe try this one (have no experience using it, so just try): http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/34272-superslew/
November 29, 20169 yr Commercial Member Just wondering if there is a way to toggle the view as with FSX/P3D.. from what i can see there isnt, you have to map buttons for each view desired.. less desirable from a VR perspective.. Not sure exactly what views you are after, but I'll share what I personally do in XP. Since I have yet to install any yoke buttons on my PFC yoke (it's an ongoing project), I have an old PS2 controller strapped to the center. Not required, I just happen to like it because with all of the camera movement commands available to you within XP, you can switch to a free camera, and using the controller, move about inside or outside the aircraft (or just around the airport) like you're in a first person game. Like the avatar mode introduced in P3D, but in the first person, and far easier to use. But anyhow, getting to the views... XP has 9 (or 10?) quick view spots, usable either from the keyboard number pad, or assignable to controller buttons. Better still, you can save views to them on the fly. So using the four shoulder buttons (these could be any buttons) on my PS2 controller, I use to load and save views to spots 1 and 2. Essentially, hitting either primary buttons acts as a toggle to switch from one view to the next, and if I move the camera into a view that I like better (focused on the GPS or FMC or instruments or whatever) then I simply hit the assigned save button. Toggling from one view to the other is super smooth panning from spot to spot as well. In my experience, the whole camera / view system in XP is unparalleled in the MSFS except through 3rd party addons; I have a hard time going back to the default camera system in FSX/P3D, especially in complex aircraft where there's a lot to see in the cockpit, or in aircraft where it has switches in an awkward place, such as the overhead in the otherwise lovely Aersoft Twotter. One more neat thing -- it saves these 9 custom views separately for every plane you program them in. So something like your primary view forward can be a little higher in one plane, a little further back in another, and they're both called up by the same key or assigned button. You might also use some of these views for different things on different types of aircraft. I have one assigned button that calls up a closer view of the EGT gauge for planes where I lean mixture. In a turbine helicopter, the same button shows a view of the torque gauge and rotor RPM. I keep the specialized views on the top row (keypad 7,8,9) but you can set this up any way you want. It's a great system, similar to the one I remember from the Rise of Flight combat sim. X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows 10 i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1660 ti, 1920x1200 monitor
January 2, 20179 yr Author For slew maybe try this one (have no experience using it, so just try): http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/34272-superslew/ I added the plugin, but really didnt get far with it, didnt seem to work.. i only tried briefly.. it showed the statistics of the location etc, but what i really want is a way to set the altitude and hit apply more than anything i think. I now use x-camera for the camera toggle ability, however, camera views dont work in flyinside for vr just yet. January 5, 20179 yr Author Has anyone messed with superslew.. i cant even get it to work.. it shows up in the menu, but from there, i cant slew etc. (xp11 beta 3) Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite
January 5, 20179 yr Author for some reason the views are not being stored for me, when I quit the program and load the same aircraft again. in my case, for some reason.. i had to hit shift + num pad number twice to get it to switch.. i did control + num pad number to save it, then the shift combo to get it to come back. January 5, 20179 yr You also kann kind of slew by opening the map view and dragging the plane. I have only made this up in the air, if you do it on the ground and you move it too fast, it may crash into the ground (?) - but haven't tested it myself. Yeah i was able to make that work, but its limited to a very small section of the map, not tristate moving per say. January 5, 20179 yr We weren't able to do a tri-state slew in v10, just what you can see on the map view. So I suspect we won't be able to do it in v11 either. It might be related to the way the map only shows the currently loaded scenery tile. Or maybe Austin thinks too much slewing is cheating. I kid... but there are aspects to the design of X-Plane that sometimes feel that way. For example, we used to be able to run higher time compression in flight using the Ctrl-T key, up to around 8x compression. This was somewhere back in v9. I think. If the user's computer couldn't render the outside world at that speed, it would just fog out the view through windscreen. Now it doesn't do that -- it renders the full outside view accelerated, with a limiter on the speed if your computer can't handle it. Mine tops out a 2X time compression most of the time. All for the sake of realism, or something. X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows 10 i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1660 ti, 1920x1200 monitor
