December 1, 20169 yr One of the coinventors of the groundbreaking IBM 360 mainframe, Erich Bloch has died at age 91. One of his quotes has relevance to flight simming. He had a computer at home and another at work and carried a smartphone, he said in the AtBuffalo interview last year. But he cautioned, “You have to make sure your technology doesn’t take more time to keep up with than to actually use.”
December 1, 20169 yr At first I was thinking you were talking about one of our members, ErichB!! An interesting quote from the late Erich Bloch! I remember in the 90's buying a new computer every year as a new CPU was released or a new GPU. Dell was making a fortune because of me. It was hard to keep up with the technology releases. Today you can get by for a long time with an i7 2600K and a GTX780. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 1, 20169 yr This is true but if you bought a real airplane how much time would be spent maintaining it vs flying it? I think Flight Sim is the same with tinkering vs flying Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
