December 4, 200520 yr I have noticed some really nice videos from various forum sources and sites made by some very talented and artistic simmers. Just recently, I downloaded the FScene 2005 one as well as some shorter clips from referrals on Avsim. Some have really nice music and I can almost picture in the near future an available "full length" video on flight sim flights as one might see from a real plane. My question is, how do you "shoot" these videos and also add music. They seem beautifully edited, and I can't imagine it being done just with the video option within FS itself, although maybe that's all that was used. Does anyone know how to go about this and can anyone do it? Thanks. Tom
December 4, 200520 yr You are right, it is not done by the onboard tools. When i shoot (videos) i use the small but very good tool called Fraps. Afterwards, i do the editing (music, fade in/out etc.) with the Windows tool for video editing already onboard XP.Hope that helps!
December 4, 200520 yr Fraps is a nice tool to capture video, if you have a decent machine with a seperate drive to capture. I record everything via the S-Video Out on my graphic board to my DV camcorder to get the best possible quality. Alternatively you can use a VCR or an external DVD recorder, but since I have the cam, this is the most convenient way for me.Cheers.
December 4, 200520 yr FRAPS is excellent for both video capture and also screen shots. Simple to use too. I use MS Windows Movie Maker to make videos or, slide shows with music and titles etc. I found it by accident and learned to use it mostly by trial and error, although there is a good HELP section on it as well. Look under Acessories it's close to the bottom. I spend so much time on the videos lately my 'flying skills' (and I use the term losely) are erroding!Scott
December 4, 200520 yr Fraps is the most common, there's another one called Taksi that's quite useful. As far as editors go, yes Windows MM is good. Pro stuff like Sony Vegas is even more powerful. As far as getting the shots goes, active Camera or DBS walk and follow will get you what you need. December 4, 200520 yr Another tool I have found helpful is the recorder.dll by Matthias Nesuinger - use it first then use fraps on the play back to get various shots. Its in the Avsim library.:) :)
December 4, 200520 yr It's brillilant isn't it! No more jerky FS9 replays. Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU

December 4, 200520 yr Hi,I have tried using my s-video out option to my DVD recorder (attached to TV to make sure) but I found the quality does not come as near as using FRAPS. The FPS may be really smooth as in FS itself but the color and textures don't appear sharp. So, I use FRAPS compromising on FPS, which is acceptable on my machine.I have ATI X800XT. I may have wrong settings on my TV-out option. I'd appreciate if somebody could direct me to sites for guides or articles on capturing using TV-out option. And yes, the new Recorder module is a must.Thank you very much.Danzian
