December 9, 200520 yr I just got MegaScenery Volume 5: MID ATLANTIC. The level of photo-realistic detail in the Baltimore-Washington area is nothing short of astounding. This FS2004 add-on leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. I have been flying Flight Simulator for 12 years now and this is hands down the best add-on I have ever bought. I highly recommend this scenery program.I do have one technical question. When I first installed MegaScenery on my newest computer which has an Nvidia 6600 graphics card there was no way to set the filter to Anisotropic. I went to the control panel and clicked on Display, Settings, Advanced, GeForce 6600 and expanded the settings area. There was no option to set a filter. Apparently this is important for the program because I couldn't get the scenery to display properly. Then I tried my old computer which has an NVidia GeForce4 MX440. This card is about 2 years older than the GeForce 6600 and yet the MX440 did provide the option to set the filter to Anisotropic (2X). This worked great and I was able to run the MegaScenery with full photo-realistic detail. So my question is this: Does anyone know how to set the filter to "Anisotropic" for the Nvidia 6600 graphics card?
December 9, 200520 yr Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced, depending on your driver there should be an nVidia tab that opens/expands a new window to the left. Look there...Hope this helps,Pat
December 9, 200520 yr There is (a tab with an expanding section) and there isn't (a filter setting within that section). Thanks though Pat!
December 9, 200520 yr Have you seen the new version of Southern California due to ship next week? It looks awsome as well. http://www.megascenery.com/vol1-us-full-V2.htm=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
December 9, 200520 yr Man the resolution for Southern California is even better than for Baltimore/Washington -- 1 foot per pixel for So. Cal. vs. 2 feet per pixel for DC. Either way you can see the putting green on a golf course. At 1 foot per pixel you might even make out the flag on the green.
December 9, 200520 yr Well, the source data is 1 foot per pixel, but it does have to get up sampled due to what FS is capable of. Still, they are starting with excellent source data.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
December 9, 200520 yr MegaScenery is great stuff, I used to use it but I got fed up with the constant blurring. I think its because my hard drive is too slow 5400 rpm :( My processor is AMD 2800 got a 6600GT and 1gb ram. What do you guys think?Marcus
December 9, 200520 yr On my 6600 drivers (as far as I know, the latest from nVidia), Anisotropic filtering is the second option down the list on the Basic Settings page of Global Driver Settings in the main "GeForce 6600" tab of the display settings.By default it is set to "application controlled" - you also have options for 2, 4, 8 and 16x if you turn off app control.Ian P.
December 9, 200520 yr Thank you, Ian. I went to the Nvidia site and downloaded the Version 77.79 video driver for the 6600. Now I have the filter control that allows me to enable the Anisotropic Setting. MegaScenery recommmends an 8X setting although the control panel gives one the option of going all the way to 16X. I will experiment with both settings to see which gives the better results. Thanks again!Peter
December 9, 200520 yr To Dave above, yes we So Cal v1 owners get a discount. They sent out an e-mail offering such to all previous buyers.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
December 9, 200520 yr Hi PeterIs there any possibility of you taking a screenshot around KESN (Easton, MD) and emailing it to me? On their site, it looks like Easton falls within their boundaries for this scenery, and I'd like to see if it does. Thanks in advance,Paulsimviator at gmail.com

December 9, 200520 yr Don't be fooled by the coverage figures quoted though - they're way over what you actually get. See this :-http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...89772&mode=fullAndy
