Opening doors in FS2004

Featured Replies

Pressing shift-E on the jetliners opens the usual front left door. But the control is described as "Select exit" in the Assignments window, obviously implying that there's more than one door to open. And looking at the models of the default Boeing jets, there's evidently a cargo door and stuff you can open up.I've tried everything I can think of to open them to no avail. This really doesn't matter all too much as this is a flight simulator rather than a door simulator, but this is really starting to annoy me.If someone has any ideas I'd sure appreciate them.

Yes, this isthe correct combination. It is working for me although not always successfully. I guess there is a glitch in MSFS.

Thanks. That's been bugging the heck out of me.

You will find it a lot easier if you change the two key assignment "Shift E" to one key.For example I use "D" instead of "Shift E"So the key press will be "D, 2" or "D, 3" etc

Well, the obvious is that some planes only have one animated door. Also, some designers will use different commands, such as tailhook or wingfold for the second doors, as "Shift+E+2" is not always reliable. Some gauges can cause problems if you try and open a different door (or try and select one engine on a multi-engine plane) and will actually prevent you from selecting anything other than door one (or any engine other than engine one for that matter). It often happens to me if I use certain panels.

Check out my file rcbse-10.zip here in the library. It not only describes exactly why this problem occurs, it also contains a gauge that solves it and that you can add to any panel.Cheers,Rob Barendregt

Try this (avsim library):cx_cargo_door.zipRoland
