December 13, 200520 yr I have been reading about the new RC4 that is being released soon and thinking about getting it for the times when Vatsim is not on, like early in the AM. Then just yesterday, I read about FS2 Crew being made ready for the LevelD 767, which is the only thing I fly anymore. Now I started thinking about all the stuff that is running on my PC and even though I have a 3.4 Pentium with 1 GB Ram, I am starting to wonder if all these items running together will start to impact performance and or frame rates. I started making a listASVActive RadarSquawkbox3FS HotFXBrown Box ( UPSVAC flight recorder)FS NavigatorTrack IR Vector ProFSERC4 ( if I get it)FS2Crew ( if I get it)Wow that is a alot of stuff going on, all the while running FS9 and the Level D 767 with all it's features like the FMC, AP, etc......Anyone have any ideas on this?
December 13, 200520 yr your RAM might want a boost.Modern computers are made to multitask, you seem to be using yours efficiently and not letting it slouch ;)
December 14, 200520 yr >ASVgood stuff, keep runing it>Active Radardump it, remove the dll from the modules directory. no radar yet works or simulates like the real one, also there is no reason to avoid wx in FS>Squawkbox3you wont run this with RC4, it would be pointless>FS HotFXdont know anything about it>Brown Box ( UPSVAC flight recorder)probably bloated novice coding, dump it unless required by your VA>FS Navigatordump it, it uses a fairly large footprint for what it does, get FSBuild - more professional and runs without FS>Track IR Vector Prokeep it, almost mandatory nowadays>FSEdont know, isnt this just a texture swap?>RC4 ( if I get it)very nice if you know what you got, if you dont understand it, dont get it.>FS2Crew ( if I get it)I have never understood this one, you must select a toggle to have the virtual copilot toggle the gear??? I dont know, seems like an awful lot of toggles to reduce the number of toggles.these are my opinions... December 14, 200520 yr Well other than ASV I run nothing at all (This also effects my FPS but not as bad). In fact I turn off traffic completely because this always hurts my FPS and is not worth losing the fluidness...[h4]Randy J. December 14, 200520 yr I think I will stick with what I got, at least my FS9 is pretty realistic and I like every add-on I have so far. Thanks for the suggestions anyway. By the way, I love active radar and use it when I fly in bad weather, and it works great. Tried FS Build and hated it....
December 14, 200520 yr If you decide on acquiring RC4, before you do, at least one of the FS Hotxxx products interferes with RC4 AI recognitiion and control. They have a tested app compat list on their web site FAQ section.

That wouldn't be a problem, since you can very easily turn the FSHotFX program on and off...

There a million footnotes I could add to explain all the nuances of the program and the interface method, but I'll save that essay for another day! The new ATR version is quite different however, but the end result of providing a technically accurate flight crew simulation remains the same.FS2Crew only does what is accurate; this does not necessary make the simulation easier to use.Cheers,Bryan B.
