Scenery Question - Hawaii

Yes they are planned.

That's good news.  It's nice flying around Hawaii.

It's a fair point Harry and I get that not everyone can invest a ton in add-on airports or even has the hardware to run them but the videos would look very dull without add-on scenery to bring them alive. Even if you flew into default Honolulu or Maui, or San Fran or San Diego then everything we're teaching here is applicable. The runways and taxiway layouts will be the same, even if the eye candy isn't. And if you enjoyed the Q400, I think you'll really enjoy the Triple.

As an aside, did you mention the strange behavior of VNAV on the PHNL approach?  Seems like a bug they'd want to look at.  Weirdly, I was on LNAV still on the flight plan, the plane was drifting left of the path coming up to the last fix.

I was talking to Roger who is doing our 747 Program but last flew the Triple and he said that it happened a few times to him. He subsequently forced the speed into the VNAV DES page once he was under manual speed control and that solved the problem of it speeding up when you hit VNAV. The real one does it, seemingly. It's a Boeing bug rather than a sim bug!

Ben,

When I watched the video a few weeks ago, I thought one explanation could be that you were still a bit too far from the waypoint with the speed constraint and hadn't reached the natural decel point yet. Maybe that's why it defaulted to the speed on the VNAV DES page. Dunno, just surmising here...

By the way, just finished watching the last of the videos and want to congratulate you on a fantastic series. It was truly engrossing and informative.

Best,

It's a bit of Boeing black magic around that, perhaps as sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure deep in the FCOM is the answer but it's got us flummoxed! Glad you enjoyed the Program, plenty more good stuff to come.
