December 18, 200520 yr I would like to know the framerate performance of the pmdg 747, especially in comparison with the pmdg 737.The 737 is just flyable on my older computer (P4 2.4 Mhz), and I am thinking of getting the 747.Thanks in advance.Guy
December 18, 200520 yr My 737 get's much higher FPS than the 747.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
December 18, 200520 yr The 747 is much better in frame rates than the 737NG. It's a major improvement.Only problem for me is, it won't load with the latest update. :( - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
December 18, 200520 yr On my old system, (XP2100+ 512M DDR, GeForce 128 MB Ti4200) , If I minimize all graphic settings in FS9, running at 16bit colour @ 1027 *768, I get about 36fsp with the PMDG 737, but only about 8-12 FPS with the 747 in the 2D cockpit.Lefteris from PMDG recommended that I up the ram to 1Gig, however I'm loath to spend more money on my old PC.CheersSatchmo
December 18, 200520 yr I find it has a slight drop in frame rates, although it is a more advanced and bigger craft so i'd expect it. 'This is on my system however!!!'AMD 2400XP 6800-128mb 1gig ram. If you haven't already, upgrade to a full gig of ram. If you're less at present and the 737 is just flyable then after adding a full gig I recon you'll be loving it, and it'l make the 747 easily possible.james
December 18, 200520 yr I've got a P4 2.4 with 1GB Ram and an ATI9800pro. The 747 suffers from slow frame rates in the VC, but if I turn down the VC gauge quality in the sim everything is much smoother, including the 2D panel. I'm a 2D panel person, mainly using the VC for the eye-candy so I don't mind this. It's only slighly slower than the 737, so if you want a 747 of this quality, get it, it will work, but be prepared to compromise. John
December 18, 200520 yr yeah i also get higher FPS with the 737, at KSEA with default traffic at 100% in the vc i get 22 with the 737 and 15 to 18 with the 747. With LDS767 i get 25.OHN
December 18, 200520 yr Thanks to all for the answers. As I have only 512MB ram and a 64MB video card with my P4 2.4 , after reading your repliess ,and as I do not want to upgrade my old machine, I think I will better get the LDS 767 in place of the pmdg 747.(OHN wrote that the Lds 767 got better frames then the pmdg 737!)Guy
December 18, 200520 yr (OHN wrote that the Lds 767 got better frames then the pmdg 737!)Not on my system :(Satchmo
December 18, 200520 yr I'm amazed you can fly the 737! If you have the money for the 747 then may i suggest to keep saving for a new graphics card. i don't mean a
December 19, 200520 yr Thanks.Just one more question: What gives better results?an upgrade to 1024MB ram or a 128Mb video card?Guy
