December 18, 200520 yr I really like this airplane and am presently flying Milton Shupe's wonderful version. Just wondering, if anyone has used both his and Aerosoft's, what the differences are? Thanks, Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
December 18, 200520 yr Hi,The Aerosoft Beech 18 looks good on the preview picture. I don't have it though, cause I was so disappointed when I read that they have used the old VC gauge style. No excuse for that anymore, is it? If it's only one (or in this slowish plane maybe two) VC section, it's okay. Can anyone tell us how many VC sections there is?The Milton Beech is very nice though, nice model, looks great, airfile good, and if you remove the fuel-selector from the vc it refreshes ok too.Think I'm gonna stick to the old Milton one, nothing wrong with it ...Eagle
December 18, 200520 yr I have been flying Miltons B18 for some time and just love it. That said I also recently (well today actually!) purchaced the Aerosoft one and with the limited workout I've had, I have to say I REALLY like this one as well.Differences:Aerosoft cockpit has more modern instrumentation, both are equally welldone.Guages not fully smooth but very acceptable. We can take it as read that one is free, one is not; the implications of that are a personal consideration. The screenshots on the Aerosoft site do, in my estimations give a realistic impression on what you may expect to see. I have a midrange system a couple of years old.Aerosoft sounds are absolutely terrific. WONDERFUL whistling sound at high throttle settings.( No idea on the realism of the sounds, never been on one - don't know!!!- but I like it.)I don't like commenting on flight characteristics because I simply have no experience of real world flying. Safe enough to say that I find themboth challenging (in a good way!) to fly, the Aerosoft slightly more so (in agood way again) Both great fun.External models are both well done, again screen shots a reasonable representation.Don't forget the Aerosoft has additional scenery which you may wish to take into the equation. In conclusion I'm glad I bought it, I shall probably use both to haul freight around (You know the sort of thing....''We'll take the old one out today while Foxtrot Delta's in for maintainance!!!'')I should peruse Aerosoft forum, workout what it will cost you and decide whether to treat yourself.Grum
December 18, 200520 yr Of course, if you really want a Beech 18 floatplane, Aerosoft is the way to go, since despite Milton releasing his source files nobody's mounted his model on floats so far.
December 19, 200520 yr You can hear what a real Beech sounds like here.http://www.virtual-speed.com/stiff/media/beech_18.wmvI took a flight in one last June. The scenery is worth the price alone. The plane is nice but does need some fixes.XP Home SP2Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 4x512MBLeadtek 6800GT 256MB (77.72)SB AudigyCH Products Yoke/Pedals USBSee you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
December 19, 200520 yr Visually Milton's plane is excellent, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to stear the dang thing when taxiing. I don't really fly it for that reason. - Aaron
December 19, 200520 yr You have to steer using a combination of differential brakes and throttles. Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
