January 5, 200620 yr > would you guys say Active Camera or TrackIR Pro 4 is better?Do you mean "better" value for money ? Active Camera has alot of features and a small price tag so its hard to beat. But TrackIR is really very good. I was taking a flight with Vistas Australias in the Stearman 75, and of course you can't even see the runway with this thing. No problem, I just look out the side and there it is, perfect. If you can afford it I would definitely say get both.Btw, the Stearman 75 is really awesome, the filename is st75.zip.John.
January 5, 200620 yr What do you guys consider the MOST useful and greatest realism effect device for FS? Besides the obvious hardware like monitor, speakers, headset, joystick, pedals..
January 5, 200620 yr FS navigator.. once you have this you will never fly without itwww.fsnavigator.comb rdgs - Dick=
January 5, 200620 yr You aren't going to get a definate answer, everyone has their own opinions.I'd recommend the following:== Utilities ==Active SkyFSNavigator== Planes ==-- Commercial --PMDG 737NG ( all 4 models )PMDG 747-400Level-D Simulations 767-300-- General Aviation --Dreamfleet Bonanza A36Dreamfleet Baron 58Carenado Cessna 182Carenado Cessna 206RealAir Simulations SpitfireRealAir Simulations SF.260 Marchietti== Scenery ==All FlyTampa airports ( minus Tampa itself, old and runs poorly )FlightScenery Flightzone 01: Rhode IslandAll GeoRender airfieldsAerosoft Mega Airport Frankfurt== Hardware ==TrackIR 4 or TrackIR 3 Pro + Vector ExpansionCH Flight Yoke ProCH Pro Rudder PedalsCH Throttle QuadrantI fly strictly from the Virtual Cockpit, so if it doesn't have a good one, I don't fly it. Again, these are all opinionated. There is no right answer here.
January 5, 200620 yr Hi,1. Yes, you start ASv6 before FS04.2. Because AS and FS communicate through FSUIPC.2A. Because you will set the download interval just as you do in FS.3. Because you will configure FS04 not to download the weather and then AS will do that. So you will let AS do all that work.4. You would turn off the weather download in SB and turn on the option in AS to use VATSIM weather. Then at your departure and destination airports your weather will match EXACTLY to the controller weather. In between you will be using AS weather.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg
January 5, 200620 yr You can start ASv6 AFTER you start FS2004 if you want. ASv6 clears all weather when it refreshes the weather.
January 5, 200620 yr I think the "must have's" totally depends on the person. In my opinion the top three must have's are1 ... better 2d terrain mesh - freeware or payware ... must have!2 ... replacement ground textures - freeware or BEV is great.3 ... Ultimate Terrain - changes US / Canada greatly4 ... Active Sky 6 - really great soa must have if you want great clouds and weather.Almost must have's below. 5 ... I like active camera only for the head latency and beffeting motion on the VC. I hope that type of movement is in FS-X by default (adjustable of course). I don't think it's a must have but I sure would miss that effect in the VC. I don't really like active camera for it's other features.6 ... YAFSScreen - screenshot utility ... like it's features . I take lots of screenshots but might be useless to others who don't care. http://www.marian-aldenhoevel.de/YAFSScreen/----------------------------------------------------------------------------------"What do you guys consider the MOST useful and greatest realism effect device for FS?"I have always wondered what this 'iVibe' device would do for realismhttps://www.ivibe.com/default.htmIt appears to create various vibrational inputs for the seat hardware
January 5, 200620 yr I guess what confuses me is what settings do I have to make in FS9 weather settings, so the FS9 weather DOESN'T override the AS weather? right now my FS9 weather is set to download every 15 minutes, so what weather am I using FS9 or AS?and while in the simulator, how do I tell what weather I am currently using? are there any obvious visual differences or anything? any flight loading differences? do I NEED to make a flight plan in AS BEFORE starting a flight in FS9?Thanks
January 6, 200620 yr I have an industrial strength Precision Flight Controls yoke, rudder and throttle quad rig and it cannot be beaten but it is EXPENSIVE.I used to have a CH rig and I have to disagree with anyone who says it is "junk." They are the world leader by a HUGE margin in yoke, pedal and throttle quad (new) and to say they are junk would be to call their whole, very large user base stupid.Certainly, no joystick properly simulates a yoke because joysticks are not yokes so enough said about that.Properly set up, the yoke works as well as anything in that price range should be expected to. The downside is largely a lack of real force (resistance to motion) but the same holds true for sticks too...except force feedback models but that technology leaves a lot to be desired. As for the CH rudders, they have toe brakes which work fine but there is no resistance at all. But you can create your own...with bungee cords fastened to the pedals and to a wall! Push on either pedal, and the opposite bungee creates resistance.(-:Jim

January 6, 200620 yr Hi,These are really questions that you should be posting at our support forum a little farther down the page.1. Turn Off the Download weather feature in FS04.2. Startup:Chapter 3 - Using ASV6 Flight Startup ProceduresWhile ASV6 can be used in many different ways, we will outline the easiest method for starting everything up:1) Start ASV6 using the desktop icon or program icon located in
