Here's another idea, and remember, it was my idea when it comes to the inevitable legal battles over patents ensue. There's no reason why take offs should not be fun: This method was actually once given serious consideration as a viable means to launch spacecraft. March 28, 20179 yr By the way, any models of the Ark out there for X-plane of FSX? I'd like to land it on a circular runway. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... March 28, 20179 yr From the design of the rocket ship I guess it would have a hard time landing on a straight runway.... FYI Fireball XL5 was launched the same way.:- Mark Robinson Part-time Ferroequinologist Author of FLIGHT: A near-future short story (ebook available on amazon) I made the baby cry - A2A Simulations L-049 Constellation Sky Simulations MD-11 V2.2 Pilot. March 29, 20179 yr We've had circular, as well as oval runways in FS9 for quite some time now. We also have ramps. Great fun. (as well as 'floating' runways!) Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

March 29, 20179 yr This, Bill: Not sure if the main craft ever touched down on an alien planet, or indeed how it returned to Earth... ah, according to wikipedia it used retro-rockets to land back at the spaceport! There you have it! I found and read tattered copies of When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide at the local library when I was a kid, (nice books) and the rocket actually had the capability of taking off and landing on its own, no ramp required. In fact, there was a scene (if I remember correctly) when it took off and used its nuclear engine exhaust to incinerate a mob of people attempting to attack the launch facility. I think the two books could do with a movie re-imagining. Also no mention in the movie about the Arks being built by/in other countries. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically......
