stars.dat file?

Featured Replies

Okay I downloaded this, but I'm not exactly sure how to get this to work with P3D v4... I ran the autostarx.exe. Is this what I fill in:

Flight Simulator Path = D:\Games\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

I'm not sure what to put for Flights Path and Flights File...

So after all that is fille din, what do I need to do next? I'm not sure what checkboxes to check, and I'm assuming I hit Make stars, and then copy that stars dat file to C:\ProgramData\LockHeed Martin\Prepar3d v4?

The flight simulator path should be the programdata location it builds the stars.dat file directly there. then click make stars and the stars.dat file is updated.

Thanks! Just tried this, the night time skies looks absolutely beautiful!

I was having the same problem, missing dll (msvbvm50.dll).

And after that I give up on this program, my thoughts was that I already have enough of MS libraries installed and I didn't want another one, just for this.

My question to you guys would be this...

Would it be possible that you simply share your (new, modified) stars.dat file, so we can just replace (after making backup first of course:senang:) our vanilla version.

Is it too much to ask ?

You update the stars file each day to get the correct location of the stars, it's worth the small download from microsoft http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb50pro/utility/1/win98/en-us/msvbvm50.exe

Oh I see...

Sorry then. Thanks for direct link. DL now.

But... I have to start the program ...every day ? Bummer, not sure if that's for me then. I starting to forget things lately.

Oh whata... I guess the world wouldn't fall apart if I miss for a day. Or two.

No you do not have to run it every day, I Just get in the habit of quickly running the autostar program, setting the date for GMT (so if my local time is today but GMT is already tomorrow I set in autostar tomorrow's date) then running the sim. If you do it once a week it gives you a good realistic depiction of the night sky including planets
