BM Base + vector vs ORBX lights

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I never give up!
After asking for a refund and uninstalling BM because of several issues with Orbx products compatibility I thought that I never tried to let all settings as they are by default (everything enabled in FTX Central for Vector and LC and without ticking the 3rd party box in BM) in a "clean" region, I mean out of ORBX NA, England, Germany fat regions.

So I decided to jump in again and re-purchased BM base + vector (yes, yes Chris! :-).
When using BM in NA I had 2 issues, for those who remember: not seeing any night improvement + roads mismatch in day time.
These issues don't appear at all outside Orbx regions and I must say that I am amazed by the result.
I now better understand what Mike meant, BM night environment is gorgeous and the issue is not because of Orbx Vector but Orbx regions.

Here is a very noticeable example.
First pic with Orbx light only. Second pic with Orbx + BM.

Conclusion: Chris is the worst PR for himself but a true artist.

Hi David,

I'm glad to see you have it working, the night lighting is just as good as x-plane now.

I have NE Florida and it doesn't look nearly as nice as these photos.  Is BM better?

Hi Gregg,

I think Chris would be the best one to answer this one, he is online now at his website.

Hi Gregg,

Chris is unable to post here so he asked me to give this to you, I hope this answers your question.

With Black Marble all autogen pop up as well; where with NE region unless he had library object based data these building footprint will not be visible the way they are in Black Marble since Photoreal will block those landcalass object from popping up over photoreal, but the lights array should be the same with allot less control, so one can significantly alter the view in Black Marble vs a similar Ne region. NE is still viable when you have Photoreal based scenery!!! and its bit more subtle and finer in colors; especially when you place a Photoreal under it, its mesmerizing, the lights mix with the real terrain color attributes and created a much more refined realistic view when overlay a Photoreal set.

I think I understood that.  I spent some time mucking around with the NE lights and it looks much better now.
