What weather engine for the Queen in P3Dv4

Featured Replies

After playing with P3Dv4 for a couple of days it is clear to me that the days of FSX on my PC are a thing of the past.

Better graphics - better performance.

This process will require repurchasing some software. Which leads to my main question: Which weather engine will be required for the 747 P3Dv4 version ?

I ask because in FSX it required ASN.

Thanks

Indeed my bad..

Im not much into name changing for the sake of name changing.. ie Airbus Helicopter is still Eurocopter and Leonardo is still Agustawestland..

for good measure I should probably mention that its no longer airbus helicopters but just Airbus

Hi Rob,

When using Flightbeam KSFO or KMSP sceneries, being at gate with PMDG 777, the scene rendering is absolutely fantastic.

As soon as I activate ASP4, the entire environment becomes quite dark.

 FTX NA and PTA.

Any idea on what's going on?

Regards,

Jacques

Disable PTA. Still the same?

That was it! Thanks! Had to un-check "Moon Casts Shadow" in Graphics.

Is it the dynamic lighting by any chance?

I don't use PTA (I have purchased just not had time to get into it and use it).  As far as ASP4 ... are you also using ASCA?  Typically, the wrong type of sky textures can make the entire world seem too dark ... for some weather conditions this is good, for others not so good.  I know ASCA and REX both have sky texture replacements, combine that with a highly configurable PTA and you might get a scene that is too dark.

Try different Sky textures to see how that goes, and/or make some adjustments to PTA.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I've got rid of PTA, at least for the time being, and I'm happy with results as general scenery is now realistic in relation with ASP4 reported weather.

Have a good day,

Jacques
