Hi their everyone new to the forums but not to simulators though admittedly my main forte is train sims other then flight.(still got my old MSTS CD floating around somewhere). To tell the truth I have kinda lurked around a bit before but what made me finally join is I have a CTD involving FSX that I can't find anyone else having before(unless Google just isn't giving me good links) Though don't know if asking for help here is OK or wait until I can post it to the CTD forum. Anyways I think i've started to ramble so I shall take me leave for now and hope y'all have a good day.

Welcome to Avsim, you'll find there are quite a few train nuts here too, so you are in good company, after all, what is an aeroplane if not a train with wings? 

There are a few forum admin approval things moderators have to do with regard to new members being able to post stuff, this is in order to prevent people joining up and spamming the forums with irrelevant stuff or ads or whatever, so initially new members are limited in which forum areas they can post, however that doesn't prevent you from asking questions in this one if there is something you need assistance with.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure my first post didn't break any rules. Ok so the problem i'm having is that with my FSX steam edition when I either try to save the game or exit it it CTD's. Doesn't say what the problem is only FSX has encountered an error and is restarting. I've been searing for awhile trying to find an answer to this but I can't find anyone who's had a CTD involving trying to save the game. Actually now that I think about it the CTD involves trying to bring up anything that takes you away from the action. Want to read the manuals that you can bring up? CTD. Want to make a new flight plan? CTD. It's driving me mad and I can't find a solution for it which sucks. So yeah if you guys have a hint of what might be going on so I can hopefully be at least pointed in the right direction I would be thankful.

I would try checking the integrity of FSX files via Steam. If that doesn't help. I would try moving the FSX config file out of the main FSX folder to allow it to write a new one when it next fires up.

Sounds like a permission issue.  Recommend you download and check out the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature or to the right under 'Hot Spots').
