Beaver autopilot bug?

Featured Replies

I'm using the GTN 750 in the Beaver, and I've noticed the autopilot NAV function doesn't work while in GPS mode, but it does work fine when I switch over to LOC.  Anyone else experience this?

In the case of Carenado aircraft integrated with the GTN 750 I normally set the GTN to the primary source of radios, i.e., COM and NAV set to 1, using the GTN configration tool. Try this yourself with the Beaver to see if it solves your issues.

I checked that out first thing, and I do have the radio configured properly.  I checked to make sure my GTN .ini files were correct (radios=0, autopilot=1).  The Nav feature works fine for localizer tracking, but the second I switch to GPS mode it ceases to work.  I really believe there's a bug here that I'd like to confirm so Milviz could address it.

This isn't our bug.  We do not do any interfacing with the GTN other than to let you push the buttons.

Okay, I just read over at the F1 forums that it's an issue with their GTN.  The problem only occurred with the Beaver in my case, so that's why I thought it was a bug.  Apologies to Milviz.

Interesting, I just tried with the Beaver and the 404 and it worked as expected in the 404 but not in the Beaver.

The solution that helped me was as follows (as explained on the GTN forum at simforums):

Delete file F1GPSGeneral.dat from C:\ProgramData\Flight One Software

Download the package 2.04 from the Flight1 website again and install.

In the GTN config tool set Link CRS and Auto CRS to NO, save configuration. Set both back the YES, save configuration again.

Now the Beaver follows the GTN course on NAV.

Maybe this helps someone, so I thought posting it here makes sense.

Given that you're the only person who seems to have this issue... I would say that it would probably be a good idea to make sure that you're doing it correctly.  the AP is very VERY simple in it's operations...

Let me clarify then,

The Milviz 530/430 you can set everything and that seems to work . However, while in flight AP will not engage.  I can set baro, and alt. on the panel. but nothing happens when I push the AP, hdg, NAv, APP, ALT, or VS buttons.

Edit: Found the problem. I wasn't holding the AP button down long enough to activate the autopilot. it not a simple push of the button but a press and hold til it comes on.

Thanks.
