FSX:SE doesn't need activation. Just re-download it. For anyone having an activation problem with FSX:MS, buy the Steam edition in a Steam sale.

I am aware of that, but as PMDG's MD-11 will not install in FSX-SE without installing MS FSX first, hence...............

I have switched exclusively to P3DV4, but previously I was running FSX-SE on a new machine that had never had original FSX, and the MD-11 installed and ran just fine.

Good to know. But when I tried that route, it brought my P3Dv4 and Steam crashing and mess I had to clear up was not worth the hassles.

Yes, at the time FSX-SE was the only sim installed. Not sure why it would affect a co-installed P3D, but it had no bad effect on Steam. As I recall, all I had to do prior to installation was insure that all legacy FSX simconnect files were in place.

Much as I'd like to get back in my PMDG MD-11, i guess like others who hope that aircraft will arise like a phoenix, I have given up hopes and moved on. It's P3Dv4.1 for me from now onwards. There are some quality P3Dv4 aircraft out there.
