JS4100 FMS setup

Featured Replies

I recently dusted off my PMDG JS4100 and started flying her again.  Must say, a very nice aircraft.

One problem though:  I programmed the FMS as per the Tutorial, pressed LNAV and FULL MAP and set off into the skies.  The MAP showing my programmed route.  I connected AP, then VS and FL armed.  Nice going so far. When clicking on NAV it shows CAP and then...start to turn in a completely different direction from my Waypoints.  There is no way I can get it to follow the waypoints in the map.  Except by HDG.  But that is not supposed to work like that.  Any suggestions?

May be I'm wrong but if I remember, you must enter direct to your first waypoint...

Regards,

I did enter the Direct To waypoint and still it follows completely the wrong route.

I always press LNAV twice to make sure it really is in LNAV mode. IIRC a single press of V/L or LNAV just "previews" it temporarily on the ND without actually changing the nav source for the AP.

Regards,

I get the idea that using the Garmin GTN 650 may have something to do with it.  When actually activating the GTN 650 during the flight and entering the same flightplan, the aircraft follows the GTN 650 rather than the JS4100's own FMS.  When the GTN 650 is not used at all, the problem remains with the JS4100 FMS not following the flightplan.  I've got the idea that even though the GTN 650 is in the background and not even activated, the JS4100 FMS is influenced by that.

I disabled the F1 GTN 650 in the J411 panel.cfg completely.  Tried the flight again and the FMS took to the flight plan with no problem!  Seems as if the GTN 650 interferes with the FMS even though it is not switched on.

Does the JS4100 come with the GTN 650?

No.  The GTN 650 is a F1 add-on Garmin.  Very nice.  A2A's aircraft make special use of it.
