GTN 750 and A2A Cherokee

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm thinking about purchasing GTN 750 for P3Dv3.4 and P3Dv4.1, but have three questions first:

1. Can anyone please confirm that it is fully compatible with A2A Cherokee 180 (I mean, fully clickable in virtual cockpit, not just 2D panel, and can also control Cherokee's autopilot)?

2. I've heard that F1 GTN 750 have some issues with clicks not being registered (e.g. sometimes you need to press buttons twice). Does RXP GTN have this issue?

3. Can I install RXP GTN 750 into both P3Dv3 and v4 at the same time on a single PC with a single purchase?

You can install in all your simulators at the same time:

The Reality XP GTN 750/650 supports:

  • P3D4, P3D3, P3D2, P3D1, FSX-SE, FSX-ACC, FSX-SP2, FS9
  • Garmin trainer 6.41, 6.21, 6.11

Thanks for the answers, guys!

Hi, for now, I've hidden the other post as it wasn't clear if the original poster was answering about the Reality XP product.

1: The Reality XP GTN 750/650 is fully compatible in the VC. As for the auto pilot you might want to get answers from other customers.

2: None of these issues are reported.

Is there a way to have a working buttons and knobs on a VC bezel (I'm trying to replace F1 750 in my A2A C182 and A2A Cherokee with "nobezel" RXP 750)?

I partially solved this problem by assigning "home" and "direct-to" to hotkeys, but still would like to know if it's possible to have a clickable bezel buttons in VC.

Hi, this most likely could be done in creating a special xml gauge file just for this.

The purpose of this gauge file is to 'intercept' the actions performed on the 3D model to 'translate' them to standard FltSim GPS commands, which in turn activate our GTN/GNS V2 when enabling the "Use Simulator GPS Commands" option.

There are examples of this type of gauge in the official panel configuration thread for starter. It'll be great if someone having the experience in making such xml gauge for 3D bezel integration could comment on a 'standard method' about how to find out the 3D model variables in question, and then how to transcribe this knowledge into a working xml gauge for the GTN/GNS V2. I think the most knowledgable person about is Bert.

I had success two or three years ago with Photoshop editing the appropriate texture for the Carenado C340 to open up an area and spots in their panel so the mouse pointer could get to the F1 GTN750's buttons and knobs. Worked great and now works just as great with the RXP GTN 750.

I tried today doing the same for the A2A Comanche but was not successful.  In the case of the Comanche, if I do not go No Bezel the entire RXP GTN 750 gauge fits itself into just the display screen area of the A2A bezel.  If I go No Bezel it positions the RXP screen appropriately, but I believe with the no bezel option the buttons and knobs are not even there underneath to do anything with.  Is that correct?

Yes this is correct. However you might try to configure this panel with bezel, you'd just have to change the gauge x,y position and w,h size to encompass the extended region covering the underlying 3D bezel.

the best remain adding the aforementioned custom made XPlane gauge though.

Well, I can perfectly position RXP gauge with bezel underneath a default VC gauge (for A2A C182 it will be gauge00=rxpGTN!GTN_750_1,-110,-32,928,880), but default VC bezel overlaps RXP bezel and makes it unclickable.

If only we could find a way to click through the default VC bezel...

Yeah, I have thought about this, but:

@dimkzr

Hi I think I can help you with a partial solution.  I've got a working xml gauge that should grab some of the most used buttons and knobs.  Send me a PM.  I own all the GA A2A stuff so I'll be able to test some stuff.  And edit I've got a basic solution going for all the A2A birds.
