(wow - Pauly's mad). I gave up on it - I booked my full motion 777 last week in sunny Miami for February and will make take my golf clubs along as well (Pauly likes golf too). I bet the LD757 comes out before the PMDG sim is complete (wow Pauly's is crazy). Paul, we have said multiple times the sim is based on -8. Since the -8 is not out yet how do you expect to have the sim ready? Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com

Entertainment....,I mean training for PMDG staff? Purchasable sim time for the public? Training for purchasers of the PMDG 747-8? Ted, The mission is kinda two-fold: People have asked for a while about hardware integration, as our stuff integrates will in some areas, but not in others. All of the research and work of getting our software to work in better harmony with the FDS hardware seems to work out pretty well for just about any other hardware manufacturers. Additionally, in order to make this even more function in a full flight deck environment, the functions can be offloaded across a network (one comp for the sim visuals, one for the aircraft, and so on), which is another somewhat related request of that same audience. A lot of the sim community (Paul, case in point) likes to try to fit in time in full flight deck sims that exist out there. These are usually found at training centers, and those centers are all about speed of processing ("here's situation A, here's situation B, here's situation C, now get out"), and not really at how simmers use the aircraft (gate to gate, usually). While it's cool to experience a full deck like that, the experience (for simmers) usually leaves a lot to be desired. The experience will/can be tailored to whoever wants to come in and hang out. I'm sure it'll evolve a bit, but as an example, you could show up and sit left (or right, if that's what you prefer) seat, and one of us could sit in the other seat to be part of the crew for a flight - real time or otherwise - or however long you have it booked. More about both in this video here, from RSR himself (jump up to 20:25 for the hardware points; 25:35 for the Sim Center): Kyle Rodgers

I hadn't seen that video of RSR's presentation before and was amused by his comment regarding airline pilots not enjoying their required sim time as they were usually being tested. I was very fortunate to get some sim time at the United Training Center in Denver when it was made available to attendees of the Avsim conference in Denver years ago. My hour in the 747 was spent performing a startup, taxi, takeoff, landing, and shutdown. When I got to the 737 I told the United pilot who had volunteered his time to run the simulator for the Avsim event that I just wanted to fly and do as many touch and goes as I could. Since I didn't have another person with me, the United Pilot took the copilot seat. Before we realized it my allotted hour was up and someone was ringing a buzzer telling us to shut down. The United Pilot was alarmed as I was and quickly shut down the sim. He then thanked me and said he had never had so much fun in a simulator because he was normally in them being tested under intense pressure for procedural correctness not practicing carrier landings.
