Saitek yoke freezing during flight

And something i noticed was when my yoke disconnected my rudder still works and my rudder's USB cable is plugged in the yoke's USB-input you know there are 3 USB next to the yoke's own USB cable.

Well in case it hasn't been mentioned, I don't think you are supposed to use those USB ports on the yoke unless you also use a power supply. I would think that could plausibly account for inconsistent behaviour. In other words, try plugging your rudder pedals in elsewhere.

So do you think my yoke could work when I just plug my rudder in an USB-port in my pc by itself? It still happens when I only plug my yoke without throttle or rudder connected.

What will happen if I bought this cable in the link. What is the reason for the cable? have never used it before do you think it could be because therefore?

I have the Saitek Yoke and two throttle quadrants both of which plug into the Saitek Yoke hub. The yoke plugs into a USB2 port on my PC. No separate power supply required.

Jeg har Saitek Yoke og to gaskvadranter, som begge sættes i Saitek Yoke hub. Åget tilsluttes til en USB2-port på min pc. Ingen separat strømforsyning kræves.

okay, so it isn't the problem. 😕 hmmm

Just plug the yoke in and try that. No throttles or pedals. Use keys for thrust. F4 for maximum thrust. F1 to reduce thrust.

Make sure you plug the yoke into a USB2 port on the back of the PC. Don’t use USB3.

You will need to use auto-coordination so the yoke acts like a steering wheel on the ground. Take-off and fly manually and see how the yoke behaves.

With only one USB device that is as simple as it can get.

Well, i did it and still the same. I can actually record it and send it to you if you want to see how it looks like?

No point, thanks as I'm out of ideas. I suggest you take your computer and the yoke to a PC repair shop and see if they can identify and fix the problem.

Thanks for all the help anyway. I dont think it have something to do with my PC because i have mouse and keyboard USB plugged in my PC too no problem with them and another one to headphone like adapter. I had deleted the device from task manager and i will see what happens when i plug it in my PC and fly later today.

If you think about it it must be something on your PC. The chances of the Saitek yoke, throttle and pedals all being faulty are extremely remote.

Just because your mouse and keyboard work doesn't mean there isn't a problem. I had a recent problem on my own PC that turned out to be a powered D-Link USB hub that was incompatible with Windows 10. It was fine for years with Windows 7.

If you have a powered hub remove it and try again. Yokes, pedals and throttles use DirectInput. Mouse and keyboard don't. That's why I suggested you run dxdiag.exe and see if there werea ny problems.

Start - Run - dxdiag.exe and press Shift+ Enter to run in admin mode. Does it crash or show any errors?

I asked one guy on twitch who plays P3D for a couple of hours ago and he told me he had the same issue at some point and i should use USB-hub adapter, but it should be a quality good USB-hub. Maybe he's right. ? i think i will go and buy one tomorrow and check it out if not i can give it refunds.

  • Moderator

Worth a try if you can get a refund if it doesn't work.

If it doesn't then look for a Microsoft Certified Software Engineer in local adverts in your local newspaper who fixes laptops etc. He solved my problem of a powered D-Link hub that was not compatible with W10.

I Can Take a look for a PC repair. Before i buy an USB-hub adapter, which USB does saitek yoke use 2.0 or 3.0?

USB2. Never plug any yoke or FS hardware into a USB3 hub. They don’t like them.
