January 26, 20188 yr FSX:SE is FSX, FSW is not and they could have done a complete re right without ESP if they choose to and are not tied to FSX, but that would have been a major undertaking for such a small team and would take years longer, they needed to bring a 64bit sim to the market as a new developer were they go in the future is up to them, I hope they have great success in doing so more choice for us the consumer I do not wish ill on any developer or sim the user wishes to use, I do not hold with this sim vrs another sim there is no point in my book, the user has never been better served than we are now and with the 64bit future ahead we the consumer and third party developers have never had it so good. Seems like a few more years away still measured on the basis that I have seen very very few announcements from major or even minor developers for upcoming products for FSW. Until that happens, FSW despite its potential , will be just that. Potential. And even then , there basically has to be a whopping influx of what we use in our fav sims available nearly same time. If PMDG were to release your fav aircraft for FSW whos going to really fly it and adopt it as their sim if there is no detailed airports, ATC,AI,Vatsim,Moving maps, Charts and navdata, your VA airlines clients, etc etc. Its going to take alot for devs to move time and resources for FSW when they have a developed mature sim bringing in money in P3D,XP11, and AE FS2. Unless theres some relatively quick way to convert stuff over, I just dont see it happening anytime soon. But im sure DTG knew that and are prepared for the long term growing pains. The wopping influx will come from new comers---not people like us who have been with our sims forever. We must not forget that there's a past, present and future. Many of us represent the past, with old habits and tons of money invested in what we currently fly. There's no question that for the right investment, both in hardware and addons, we have created the sim of our dream-- short of the real thing. Newcomers wont have a history and , on impulse, curiosity,or money concerns, will buy what looks like an easy plug and play decision. So far, FSW is potentially the only sim that meets that criteria. It's not a finished product, so this opinion is purely based on assumptions about what and where FSW will become and be a year from now.
