Fantastic shot! And, to have these kind of natural, true to life colours and this realistic lighting in P3D is clearly not possible (yet). The things, LM seems to squeeze out of the ESP code are pretty nice and amazing (like dynamic lighting), and little apps like PTA and Envshade that alter the shaders are quite successful as well. But compared to XP11, especially considering its smoothnes while doing all of that visual greatness, P3D just reaches the 2nd place (for civilian flight sims. DCS 2.5 looks extremely promising as well).

Try doing this weather in XPlane (Full disclosure: I own XPlane too)

PS this shot is unedited, no post processing, direct from sim.

I understand, but your weather for be honest look basic... i know P3D very well and I do not need to prove the huge difference with XP11...My shot is unidited,no post processing also direct from the sim but i use xENVIRO 1.06 + SweetFX+MaxxFX.Happy fly

I agree with you but the second place is far from the first and P3D will remain an "old" sim. I have fly on P3D and ORBX for 8 years and I tried to return but P3D look like a cartoon when you come back from  XP11.The XP future improvement is unlimited...

In the environmental area (rain, snow, clouds, seasons, wet and snowy asphalt, etc.) XP11 is still behind, even compared to FS2004. I hope all of these features will get improved at most by XP12, ideally even before.

I like XP a lot and have advocated it for several years. Good to see some mainstream developers getting involved. In some ways XP is like DCS, the priorities of the development team are not always in sync with the mainstream user. (Also, the 2 communities can be similarly insular.)

As far as I'm concerned I don't need all this to feel like to be a pilot and fly in a real environment with XP11.Even with everything you mention (rain, snow, clouds, seasons, wet and snowy asphalt, etc.) .After FS2004,FSX,P3D This is the first time I take a real pleasure .XP11 will be one day XP20 etc...i am not to sure about P3D V20...

I’m with you! There’s a huge gap between the 1st and 2nd place. ;-) The whole sim feels so much more alive and dynamic. And the sensation of speed and flight you get, when you fly through a thick layer of clouds, finally breaking through, into the blue, is something P3D just isn’t capable of. And one shouldn’t forget to turn on the anti ice, or otherwise, the building ice upon your wings can bring you down... ;-)
