February 3, 20188 yr I have forgotten how I make p3d start my airplane with no cockpit or panels. I only want an outside view when a plane is selected. I know I can save a default flight, but when I switch planes the darn virtual cockpit comes back. I have separate instruments and controls on my tablet screens, so do not use the cockpit panels for anything, and deselecting cockpit every time gets tiresome. I know I did it in the past, but my old brain cannot recall how to do it now. -stampee Specs removed.
February 3, 20188 yr Moderator I would think that by editing the panel.cfg file, you could remove the various windows from displaying. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 5, 20188 yr Author thank you. i tried that by setting the view value to 0 in the config, but it did not help. -stampee Specs removed.
February 5, 20188 yr Moderator Just comment ouot the whole section - backup the panel.cfg file first t be safe. Locate the window you don't want and put a // in front of every line. See if that works. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 5, 20188 yr Commercial Member Please be careful with that. If you disable the gauges or the entire VC, you are also disabling all custom coded aircraft systems. You could add a camera view though, that is a little distance in front of the VC's internal model. The VC is still there, but you can't see it unless you turn your head. Best regards LORBY-SI
February 5, 20188 yr What’s wrong with just pressing ‘A’ on the keyboard? I use it all the time when I wish to take a screen shot without the Virtual Cockpit. ‘Shift+A’ restores the VC. Mike
February 5, 20188 yr Author Thank you all: I tried hitting "A" it cycles through various view modes, not just on or off. Its better then nothing I guess. I know this is not rocket science I have done it before, but darned if I can recall how i did it. -stampee Specs removed.

For better framerates it is possible as well creating a view just in front of the external model. But then you no longer hear the cockpit sounds. If only this was a native feature.
