Can I purge a flight route in mid flight?

Featured Replies

Reason, i completely fubared up my arrival profile, star etc and couldn' fix it.

Is there a way to purge a current flight route in the fmc and then reload the initial route I had at departure?

Cheers.

There's probably an easier way than this, BUT

You could enter the route again in RTE 2, make sure you line-select the next waypoint up to the top, and activate that.

You can then delete RTE 1 I believe by deleting the ORIGIN airport on the RTE 1 Page 1.

I haven't tried deleting an active route by deleting the origin on the first route page.

I haven't actually tried this myself, but I THINK it should work.

Curious, I will investigate the route2 option, thanks.

I always click on COPY RTE on the RTE page after accepting and executing a flight plan; otherwise, your route will not be found in RTE2.  This way it is ready for me when I need it for whatever reason such as diversion or alternate or whatever.

I will do so from now for contingency.

RTE 2 is also very useful if you are given a large re-route during the cruise, because after copying the active route from RTE 1 you can then insert the re-route into RTE 2 before activating it.  As you say, if the destination weather is forecast to be on or close to limits then it is always a sensible idea to plan ahead and have the Diversion set up, ready and waiting, in RTE 2.
