Today I bit the bullet after a full week of trouble.

Prepar3d was working fine for about 2 weeks and then the problem started.

P3d has been freezing up on me right after i start it up. It quickly shows the updating scenery, traffic etc blue line on startup, and the just freezes at the black screen just before the startup screen, select flight.

I "zeroed" the entire pc today. (windows 10) reinstalling everything hoping to solve the problem at hand. Everything was fine, for a couple of hours and then it frooze up on me again. back to zero. I just dont know how to deal with this. Can anyone point me in any direction ?

I seem to be spending all my time on problems instead of flying, I would love to have it the other way around.

cheers

Perhaps it would help if you tell us what's installed as far as add-ons. Try to give us as much detail as possible.

Mario Di Lauro

Along with giving us as much detail as possible, as previously suggested, have you taken a look at Windows Event Viewer to see if any of the crash details are given? Also, how about "App Crash"?  If so please post that info as well There are some very knowledgeable individuals that can possibly help you if they have more information. Have you taken a look at the Avsim CTD Guide found here in this CTD forum? It too is a very helpful resource. Hang in there, most if not all of us know your frustration as many of us have experienced the dreaded CTD's in our flight sims.

As indicated in the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature) P3D crashes at startup, it states the modules in the dll.xml are loading and one or more are missing or corrupted or out-of-date or just installed improperly.

Anytime you reinstall Windows and it freezes up after a couple of hours you most likely ran out of VAS or got very low on VAS.  I suspect you have P3Dv3 or less.  See the AVSIM CTD Guide under Freezes after loading a flight.

Thank you for your answer.

I Will check out the guide for sure.

I have Prepar v4.1 installed and the only AC i have installed is PMDG 737NGX.

Then I have PTA, orbx base + Vector and Yesterday i installed FSUIPC5.

When I go for a flight it Can work fine, Then I close Prepar3d normally and when i return, without tweaking anything, it freezes up ?

ok, here is something from the windows event log. I migrated the orbx and it started up again. did some nice touch and goes in athens with no problems. Closed the program normally and now it freezes at the black screen again....

Well, VAS is not your problem. Please make sure that there is no hidden message window behind your P3D, mostly visible in your taskbar. In this case it seems to freeze which is not necessarily the case.

Thanks for all the replies. I removed PMDG 737 and the entire sim apparently works again. Sure enough as soon as i reinstalled PMDG 737 it freezes up again. did this 2 times to confirm that something is going on with the NGX.

So what now... I was thinking of buying the 777 as well but now Im not sure if it is a waste of my money on my system... or the download could be corrupted or something entirely different,

Sim1.dll apparently was the problem, and according to CTD guide it is because the plane is incompatible to prepar4.1 or could be some corrupted texture.. so i reinstalled but the same problem came back..

hope to figure it out as I absolutely love the PMDG.

Yes, you have to be careful with the versions of PMDG aircraft you own.  Last night I went to my account on PMDG and downloaded them all and reinstalled them and got them all activated.  I have them all for FSX and P3Dv4.1.  You should go to your account on PMDG and download the latest versions.  There have been several changes since first released to fix bugs.  I think that if the PMDG Ops Center likes your installation, it will be accepted and will provide further updates.  When I reinstalled them all last night, before the install ended, it took me to the PMDG Ops Center and told me I have several notifications (depending on aircraft).  Some were to tell me about my old liveries and asked if I wanted to delete those folders and I did.  I can always go to the PMDG Ops Center and get any livery I want at any time.  Perhaps one of those liveries are no longer compatible?
