X Europe in one word...

...WOW!!!

Earlier today, I made a post about the news that X Europe for XP11 got released. I showed some pics of Frankfurt in this post. But tonight, I wanted to see, how it draws a small German city, a city with a population of barely 180,000, close to the french boarder. It´s my birth place, and I know this city very well, and so I could make a bit of sightseeing...

Have a look, and you may understand my enthusiasm ;-) (the underlying scenery is ZL18/19 (!) ortho4XP generated scenery, and fps were 35-50):

There are some funny issues where OSM data interprets house boats as actual houses:

The definiton of buildings is spot on:

And here, OSM data interpret the casino "Schloss Halberg" as a bi castle:

And one more of Frankfurt:

Thanks a lot for viewing!

Great shots. How is it in other countries? Currently, all of Europe looks like Germany in X-Plane with default scenery. So I wonder if X Europe (as they announced planning if I am not mistaken) changes that.

In a future update, he plans to release country specific facades, so you will recognise the country by the different style of houses. Right now, it only uses XP11 default facade. But it still looks extremly good. I´ll post some more pics of other countries tomorrow!

I have tried it and it looks really great. However, only in daytime for me. Compared to Europe mix and landmarks that I used before, cities and towns look much darker to me with X-Europe. Does anyone notice the same?

It sure looks mighty impressive, looking forward to see other countries (i.e. Denmark please :-) )

When looking at Simheavens download page, there are several other files, do we need them as well? I'm referring to the:

Forests, Dense forests, VFR-Aerials, VFR-landmarks, w2xp Europe net xp11?

No, you just need X Europe, it’s a download if approximately 4 gigs, and after unzipping, there will be 3 files that have to be put into the Custom Scenery folder (please read the manual for that)

Yes, less road lights (still lit up highways though), and more correctly placed facades,  which have night light textures (like the industrial buildings and the urban higher buildings) that aren’t as bright.

Hi Michael

are you using a landmark add-on for Frankfurt to get all the proper skyscrapers and the stadium?

Thanks!

No, just X Europe! The OSM data define the type, height, etc. of a buiding. It´s insane! ;-)

Could someone please check if you get objects from X-Europe for +43+007, LFMN? I have no idea why I don't see any objects at all there. Neighboring areas are fine. Thanks a lot.
