IRS Alignment

Featured Replies

Hello

How is the IRS aligned in the Maddog X  I cannot see an IRS alignment setting on the overhead panel

The MaddogX MD82 has AHRS instead of IRS. AHRS is pretty much IRS without the positional data. It stands for attitude heading reference system. Provides attitude and heading information only. Our MD82 uses GPS to gather positional data, as well as GS, Wind, track. An AHRS coupled with a GPS is pretty much an IRS unit. And the nice thing about AHRS is that it only takes seconds to align vs the 10 minutes or so for IRS

If I'm not mistaken, most MD82 operators retrofitted their fleet with IRS, and I think it even came factory standard past a certain line number.

Maybe one day Leonardo can add IRS to the sim. Fingers crossed

There is none to worry about. Just enter the GPS position during your FMS programming.  This is all covered int the Tutorial videos and documentation.   Going thru all these tutorials the Dev team put together will make flying this aircraft immensely easier and more rewarding.  You are going to be fighting yourself and regretting it later if you don't go thru them.
