February 28, 20188 yr Flying Taxis May Be Years Away, but the Groundwork Is Accelerating https://nyti.ms/2FayTPf Uber Air? CityAirbus?
March 2, 20188 yr Time for my Debby Downer rant about these things. They're going to be way too loud, and blow too much ground debris on takeoff and landing, to ever be used like a "taxi" in the traditional sense. I'm waiting for the first video of a test flight that actually shows what they sound like, instead of playing dreamy music in the background. In urban centers, rooftop pads could work. Maybe a bunch of mini-airports in other areas, like bus station hubs. The "fly and land anywhere you want" model that's being suggested by these companies just isn't going to cut it. Especially when it will mostly be the wealthy who will use them. X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows 10 i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1660 ti, 1920x1200 monitor
March 2, 20188 yr Moderator I’m surprised more people don’t try to commute using PPC/powered parachute/paraplane. Cheap to buy and operate and short takeoff and landing. The only issue would be weather. When I’m stuck in traffic I often wish I was in a PPC flying over it. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
