Default 747 - Air France?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a good Air France repaint of the default 747. I've searched through the Avsim library, nothing. Flightsim.com, nothing. Even did a Google Search. Found one, but it wasn't quite up to my standards. Surely a good one has been made? I just can't seem to find one.

Mike...

I agree with the other post, If you are looking for a 747, go to POSKY. http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads-index.phpIf you are concerned about learning a new panel, I believe most of their aircraft are set up to work with the default 747 panel and sound. In fact, every aircraft that they have tends to be the best freeware model available. Is there a reason why you want the default?

Yeah, I've looked at those before. But does the 747 for example come with a virtual cockpit? Suppose I can do without for AF. But during taxiing and landings and take-offs I just love the VC so I can get a good view of my expensive payware sceneries and all the AI traffic. :D Oh and one more question, I downloaded a CRJ once from OS, but the readme said for F2002 only. Would it have worked in FS9 as well? Thanks.

Mike...

Well, mostly the VC cockpit thing. How crappy the default ones may be. :-roll

Mike...

that's the reason i fly 'em. i look at it this way, with the default aircraft you get a good mix of different aircraft with virtual cockpits in one package. could be better i guess but as it is, it's not bad and the VCs kind of grow on ya after you get used to 'em. anyway, can't beat the perspective you get when using the VC. william

Hello Mike,It can sometimes be difficult to find things in the library. But, if you are looking for a repaint of the default 747, I wonder if you have tried:air_france-747.zip by Walter Illichmann / gonixIt is in the Avsim library. I use it for ai and have not really spent any time looking at it, so no guarantees.Best regards.Luis

i don't have a CRAY super computer to run stuff like that. thanks though, william

think i spoke out of line as your comment/link was for mike i believe. sorry. william

I understand your viewpoint.Fly the default also from time to time for the same reasons. After all, they are a very good compromise. There is a default Air France 747 repaint on flightsim.com, you must look under FS2002 aircraft : mk_747af.zip By Mark Kiszkiel , it is ok.Happy landings Guy

> Well, if it's VC you want, spend a few bucks and get this masterpiece.A few bucks? :DNah, I know PMDG is great, very realistic and all. But their products lack interactivity with FS. I'd rather have products that acknowledge and work with the limits of FS, than a product that's super realistic but can't even handle the most basic stuff without having to download a third party program. Example, an FS flightplan.Besides, I just want to click a few buttons, push back, and enjoy the airports and AI traffic. I don't want to spend ages setting up stuff. I might, but then everything else would have to work with FS and not against it.And that's why my boxed PMDG 737 is collecting dust on the shelf.> And if it's VC you want and DON'T want to spend any bucks get iFly747.Interesting, I'll look into it.> There is a default Air France 747 repaint on flightsim.com, you must look under FS2002 aircraft : mk_747af.zip By Mark Kiszkiel , it is ok.D'oh! I'll check it out.> It can sometimes be difficult to find things in the library. But, if you are looking for a repaint of the default 747, I wonder if you have tried: air_france-747.zip by Walter Illichmann / gonix.Ditto. :DThanks for all the answers, they'll keep be busy for a while. ;)

Mike...

mike, you hit the nail square on the head. william
