March 21, 20188 yr Moderator Let me guess, you can't get the KAP140 to turn on. If that's the case, just hold the AP button for about 2 seconds. It's either that or you aren't clicking on the BARO button to accept the current setting, or adjusting it to the current baro pressure, then clicking the BARO button. Those are the two most common issues. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 22, 20188 yr In the previous versions of the 310R, I have noticed that when the fuel selector levers are on the LH & RH Aux Fuel tank positions, the Aux Fuel panel lights would come on. On the Redux version of the 310R, that does not happen (indicator lights do not illuminate). Just wondering if it is by design or is this a possible bug?

Those lights should only illuminate whenever the fuel in the AUX tanks comes close to the "unusable fuel" level. This is a warning to the PIC that he/she should change over to the main tank(s) soon to prevent engine fuel exhaustion. In short, they are now operating as designed. Fr. From this, I gather we should use the aux tanks first before switching over to the mains? The procedures in the (very complete) documentation seem to imply otherwise, that the mains should be used first. Not an issue, really, unless it's a very long flight, say >2-3 hrs. March 23, 20188 yr Moderator Stew, normal procedure is to use the main tanks (wing tip tanks) when taking off, then switching to the AUX (wing locker) tanks, using that fuel until time to land, or until required to switch back to the main tanks. Recommended procedure is to switch to main tanks during approach and landing. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 23, 20188 yr Thank you, sir. That was my understanding, too, and how I've been handling fuel management. Just wondered about some of the items in the checklist, however. They don't seem to be consistent with my understanding of the accepted method of fuel management for the 310. Thanks again for the clarification. March 23, 20188 yr Thanks Bill for your clarifying responses--greatly appreciate it and I am enjoying the Redux version a lot. Hope there will be a Redux version in the works for the Baron as well!
