FSX Config

Recommended Posts

I have recently upgraded to a new PC with a lot of the bells and whistles as far as graphic card etc.   Should I be using the same fsx configuration settings I was using before on the older PC?

Thanks!

Try it first and see how it goes. I use FSX:SE and find that it runs better without any tweaks on my new system than it did with many tweaks on my old system. Take a look at this thread:

I would not use a saved fsx.cfg file on an upgraded or new computer.  I did that once and FSX thought I had multiple graphics cards and ran poorly.  You can try it, but you may well end up deleting the old fsx.cfg file and letting FSX build a new cfg file.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Would agree with vortex's advice and would strongly suggest you avoid tweaks if at all possible.

What are your new PC pc specifications now? FSX is limited by 32bit environment to 4GB of VAS(virtual address space). Even if your new PC can handle much more, you should adjust your settings to avoid OOM's. There are a lot of tools to monitor VAS. Check AVSIM Configuration Guide

The AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide has always advised against installing any tweaks.
