What's the difference between the Like and Upvote buttons on each post?

Like means - I like this post and the member is given a good or excellent reputation point.

Upvote - means this post or topic deserves more attention.  I agree with the poster this is a serious problem.  The poster does not get an increase in their forum reputation if you just give the person an upvote for the post/topic.

It's rather simple really but I find it totally unnecessary as it is very confusing (as you have indicated or would not be asking the question).  It came with the site update.  I do not like it.  A "like" or reputation point is sufficient.  I cannot turn upvote off.  Sorry!  Hopefully, if we ever upgrade to v4.3, this stupidity will be removed.

Then how about posting a general advice to members here advising the equivalency of the former Reputation and current Like, and the insignificance of Upvote?  We use most effectively that we clearly understand.  Anybody else Like that?

Not really. Let's leave that type of pollution to Facebook and the other social media outlets. AVSIM is not a popularity contest. My opinion.

I don't do Facebook, or the like, but I do buy their stock and have made $$$ off of the mindlessness they inspire. So keep doing what you're doing. As long as I continue to make money I can tolerate it.

Hypocrite? You bet! It's helping to fund my retirement.

Thanks for the explanation. Like it is, then!

But it would remove any confusion for Avsim users who don't visit this forum.
