June 14, 200619 yr I have really messed up Manhattan somehow. It appears that the island is not almost completely land locked.I originally though this was a problem left over from a incorrect install of Ultimate terrain. Here is my original post in the Ultimate Terrain forums.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=17276&PN=1Now that the instructions from the UT people didn't work, I am starting to think it is something else. I haven't noticed any problems in other places and I haven't flown in NY in quite a while. I have no idea where to start since I probably have installed a ton of things since this developed.Does anybody know where I should look? What BGL? Has anybody else experienced this? June 14, 200619 yr Hello Jeff,NYC might start to look like that if Donald Trump has his way - he just loves to build.Anyway, you should find the photoreal default scenery in this folder:Flight Simulator 9SceneryCitiesNewyorkscenerywith the following bgls: - imgmanhattan.bgl - and, newyorkairportll.bglplus there are 1575 files in the associated Texture folder! If you don't have them, get them from the original cd.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 14, 200619 yr Thanks for the help, but this didn't work either. I have also replaced all of the scenery BGL's with the ones on the disk in NAME, NAMC and NAMW and nothing worked.I'm thinking it is a landclass issue but I have no idea what landclass it could be. I am using the FSG landclass. And I have Ultimate Terrain installed but I have it set back to default. Right now, the UT landclass installed using the sandwich technique. Here is the section from my scenery cfg. The NY aerial photo is set at aera/layer 25.{Area.038}Title=Addon SceneryLocal=Addon SceneryLayer=38Active=TRUERequired=FALSERemote={Area.039}Title=Ultimate Terrain - Canada/AlaskaLocal=SCENERYUTCANADALayer=39Active=TRUERequired=FALSERemote={Area.040}Title=Ultimate Terrain - USALocal=SCENERYUTUSALayer=40Active=TRUERequired=FALSERemote={Area.041}Title=fsglc USALocal=SCENERYfsglcLayer=41Active=TRUERequired=FALSERemote={Area.042}Title=UT CityLocal=SCENERYUTCITYLayer=42Active=TRUERequired=FALSERemote={Area.043}Title=FlightZone01 LandClassLocal=C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Addon SceneryFlightZone01_LCRemote=Active=TrueRequired=FalseLayer=43{Area.044}Title=FlightZone01Local=C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Addon SceneryFlightZone01_SCRemote=Active=TrueRequired=FalseLayer=44 MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
June 14, 200619 yr Author JeffI am thinking (a rarity, haha) but it appears that your landclass is at a higher priority than the scenery .bgl's for New York. That should not be. The Hudson River, for example, should be over the top of any landclass that might be there. Just a random thought...Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 14, 200619 yr A big thanks to you! That seemed to fix it. I put the UT files and the FSG landclass before all of the aerial photo entries and NY looks normal now. I guess I got screwed up when I installed UT.So, are the UT files and landclass ok in that position? Also, what about all of the other various landclasses I have compiled? Do they have to go there to? I know I have landclass for Israel and Mexico and I am sure I have a lot more. Can they all go in the same folder? Do they all have to go in that position? Right now, most of them are just at a lower priority than the corresponding scenery.Sorry for all the questions but I really just want to know the best way to do this. June 14, 200619 yr Author Wow, I am glad that priority was the problem. I am no expert on all of that. But I will say, that in general I put all 3rd-party scenery at a higher priority than the default/stock scenery. In other words, default files such as "NY Aerial Photograph" and "Propeller Objects" or whatever they're called, are at lower priorty than "FS Genesis Mexico 76m Terrain", in the Scenery Area listing. In fact my highest priority scenery addon is I think FS Genesis Rocky Mtn terrain. I don't have UT so I guess I would have to experiment to see what worked.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 16, 200619 yr "I have really messed up Manhattan somehow. It appears that the island is not almost completely land locked."Jeff, I have absolutely nothing useful to say. I see your screen shot and I had to ask myself ."What is he whining for?" Did you see what Godzilla did to Tokyo??!! I've read books on this stuff so I can say this with much certainty. Check your Californa mesh! If it is not there, (remebering that FS is "As real as it gets")then you problem has a simple answer. California fell off sucking everything to the west. Therefore, New York is no longer an island.Heck! I like the way you have it:-) The way I take off and land this gives me more runway. I'm getting pretty tired of ATC yelling at me to "expedite my climb to 1,ooo ft." The manual says," Below 10,000,...250 KIAS." Don't they know how long it takes to get a 747 up to 250 when you're going through trees, houses and stuff?Anyway, I think in your case, California.bgl is gone...Kaput...Nada. Course...I have been wrong before.Best regardsJan1,KINDWhen I push the button and it works, I'm happy:-)
