Hi, One of the things that bothered me was the ATC phraseology(sp) and having to repeat what I was hearing while I was trying to carry out tasks. It seems that the controllers speak very fast. Some do, but as you experience it more,the slower it seems to come.I found that it was good to use text, or ask the controller for text instructions. That way you can read it back knowing that you got it right. Fly short flight in one control space where there may be several small to medium traffic airports and one controller controlling all of them. Huston ARTCC for example, but there are others where that controller may have time to talk you through all phases of your flight. I found many of the controllers who are controlling you are pilots who understand exactly what you are going through because they had to go through the same anxiety:-) Don't be afraid to ask for a repeat of te instructions. It's real world. Don't be afraid to ask for a go around to get your composer. Don't be afraid to ask for Vectors out of the pattern to try to get it right.Don't be afraid to disconnect if you find yourself overwhelmed.Listening and responding to other peoples instructions off mic is great practice.Finally, go with an experienced pilot. Are you register with VATSIM? Are you using FS9 or which version.You don't need a mic to see the servers in your area is why I'm asking.When you start SB it is not connected to the server. You have to connect and when you do it is going to ask you for your information and if you are using FS9 ( i don't use FSX so I don't know) it will connect you to a multiplayer game.Lets say that you are registered and you just can't seem to get SB to say that you calibration was successful. Ignore it. I know it's alot of work for you but you have helped me and I know for sure , others learn and enjoy this hobby in a form that made it understandable. I often refer back to them as I progress in my learning to be able to take the next step. I agree with you. I fly some of those routes and i find that it is important to calculate the fuel and weight using whatever tools or devices you might have.Using Flightaware I have often attempted to immulate the aircrafts progress to include altititudes. What I see is that sometimes the plane has to cruise at a certain step before it is able to climb to its final cruising altitude.Fuel weight is an issue. a couple of examples are SWA from KMDW to KDEN flies at 40000,with around 135 pax, 11866 lbs cargo, and uses 14100.76 lbs of fuel not counting extra fuel needed. I fly with 18608 lbs for the 781 mile trip. KSTL to KSLC uses close to the same amount for a 1014 mile trip. "Technically correct" Used to be what was for me My idea of what was "technically correct" and that was all that mattered. For me my enjoyment cames from the airport enviorment so put all my energy there.I recently joined a VA. I now see that "technically correct" has been "technically Wrong" and I have a lot to learn. So far being technically correct can be as fun (Which is what this is all about for some of us.) But being "technically incorrect has it's advantages. It is realist by nature. Being technically incorrect has sometimes cause new improvements and innovations. Hi, CARSIMYou did not say which default you were using. However, doesn't matter.The easy fix is to go to the library and use the key word "default".You will find replacement packages which contain new configurations within the package for most of the default boeings, MD's. You can use the 2002 defaults also in FS9. I have that problem with my NVIDIA card. Hi,I know it is a pain but did you uninstall and try again with a clean install?You did not mention if you did a complete uninstall or did you leave the back-up. Did you have any add-ons installed? really sounds like your installation is corrupt. Might also be a good idea to explain why you uninstalled in the first place. was it not working before you uninstalled?I'm pretty sure we can find your problem. Hi Phil,I too had a problem with C9 LAX and what I found out was that C9's system needs a little tweaking but it works. First , Did you register in the forum? If not you should. No they are not M-F as far as support but it takes a little while.You might want to describe your problem with LAX here. Maybe one of those who use the product have an answer for you. DO you have the CD version or download?.I'll shoot from the hip here since I don't know what you have. My problem was that I was not entering it key exactly as given. I was transposing a "1" where it should have been an "I", and an"o" where it should have been a "0". it makes a difference if you get one wrong. Alberto can test it and if it doesn't work can work with you to correct it. Paul,The problem here is that things are not working the way they are suppose to. Thankfully I finally got my download but but along with that I got an email from Robert telling me I should use the system that didn't work and instruction to read the forum guideline which says that I should use the system that does not always work. In reading the instructions I find that if I have the problem as did this post is that we are suppose to appeal our problem to update me@. Problem with that is how can PDMG update me when the system says we have no order? the only proof we have is that we paid PayPal for "something". we can't varify what it was since we have no reciept or confirmation that PDMG recived our order.Additionally, the guideline specifically says that PDMG does not have to respond to our post or a PM. So as a consumer panic has to set in when nobody is talking to us.I was told that my problem was that PayPal did not post my payment for 2 minutes which caused a problem. Okay, I can understand that. My problem is that there was no acknowlegement of my order for 6 days.I am confident that PDMG is not intentionally doing anything except the best they can when a problem arises. I see now by reading the guidelines better that we should not PM thet staff. But, because I did out of ignorance I was was relieved in knowing that my problem was acknowleged. It's scary to think as stated in the guideline that it might cost you more to get something you have paid for, but never got in the first place...("There is a small charge for the replacement of products,...")Hopefully this poster's problem will be handled as was mine. You can get the CD version of UT from Flight1 If you like. If you look at Flight1'S return policy and within the time limit you can retur the download add a few bucks and get the CD. Talk to them. They will work with you where they can to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. They stand on their support.
