Cpt Keith's Sand Pit airport

Featured Replies

I do like flying in the PNW area and own UT, most of the geo render stuff, Mega Scenery PNW, Vancouver+ as well as MF. So this was a must have as the little details are outstanding and a stop over between big city life and MF. After I installed it and read the manual I noticed that it is only compatible with the default install of FS9. The main Sand Pit airport works like a charm but the dock area north of the airport is on land and Masset Muni is half in the water. This is attributed to UT I'm sure.I did contact the author to see if any plans were in the works to get it working with UT and this was what I got."Al, Ultimate Terrain gives many scenery developers headaches. In most beta tests the scenery did perform with UT is you place its priority setting higher than the one for UT. With so many other addons out there that modify entire areas it is hard to make scenery wirk with everything. Best,Keith"so there you go, it is an excellent secenry at a great price (even has some custom AI and sea gulls) but most of it is useless for any one with UT.Just thought I'd let others know.

I found this statement rather surprising:"Ultimate Terrain gives many scenery developers headaches."Hmmm... corrected coastlines, rivers, roads that match up with satellite imagery is more difficult to work with than default incorrect MSFS scenery. Interesting :-hmmm While I can understand Keith's position on not wanting to make a scenery add-on that requires the purchase of an additional add-on I might respectfully suggest that he consider a repositioning file for UT users that also want to purchase his scenery.

Keith has since got back to me (he is very quick to respond). Here is what he add's "It's very sad when you have many developers pumping out what they all call "100% accurate landclass and mesh" and yet all of them are different. How can all be different if they are all 100%??...........................Sorry for the issues. I even used real-world sat images as an overlay to be sure that everything would be OK. If the landclass was truly correct this would not be happing. Sorry again"I sent him some pics of the problems.I REALLY would like to see this get worked out. I have been wanting to buy one of his scenery's for a while now but they are all in area's I don't fly in until this one.

I'm sure it's gotta be tough for developers to make scenery that will work with all sorts of add-ons and combinations. What a headache. And then, who wants to tie their product to someone else's?Then again, if you are the type of simmer who purchases add-ons for your simming world, I doubt many of those would retain default scenery, textures, and mesh as well. Maybe if you were new to the hobby.Keith's a great guy. I'm sure he will figure out what to do best. And thanks for the head's up.

UPDATE!Keith mailed me again and said they may be working on a patch for UT users.

Cool... Keith's a great guy and I am happy to see that owners of UT will be able to use his latest creation.
