May 23, 20188 yr The only thing I would warn about is that the pad itself is slickery as heck, and hard to keep centered as you are mounting your heatsink. In fact you're as likely as not to find out later (from your temps) that its slightly off-center. which might force you to attempt a remount. The smaller size just exactly covers an i7 processor, and the chance of pad misalignment is serious. I recommend spending the extra bucks for the large size pad, to give yourself some room for error. Shouldn't make much of a difference re temps, I wouldn't have thought, if slightly off centre. Given that the die is small and central to the IHS. Makes sense to try and keep it central though. I recall somebody in a video, used a minuscule dab of conventional paste on the corners to keep it still.

Yep, and if they can improve the product even further over time and knock a few more degrees off the temp, even better. After all, this is the first example. Pretty sure other manufactures will come up with their versions too and we will have them all competing for the best pad. As long as there are no patent issues of course. Patent issues with PC stuff are often a bit bonkers. Like the AIO's for example. The idea of a pump on the block was patented by Asetek, forcing anyone who develops a rival product to approach things differently. So we see some AIO's now being forced to place the pump mid way on the tubing, and Coolermaster have been forced to incorporate their pump slap bang in the centre of the radiator.
