Aircraft suspended in mid air???

Featured Replies

The problem is that whenever I load a new flight, my aircraft is about 2,000ft above the parking spot! It’s just.... suspended. My sim isn’t frozen, or anything. And it’s at almost every airport. Any clue of what this could be? I’ve had some really unusually aweful luck with my sim lately so this is just another problem on a much longer list of items that make me want to throw my computer out of the window and give up.

Be careful, if you throw your computer out of the window, it wont remain suspended and somebody might get hurt...

Jokes apart (you are not alone having that feeling by the way), when you have this situation

  1. Did you try slewing down? Does it work?
  2. Did you save any starting (or default) situation where your aircraft might have been, for any reason, above the ground?
  3. You say it is at "almost" any airport, does it mean it's not everywhere? If so, do you have AI traffic on the ground or also above the ground, that could indicate an elevation problem. If you do have an elevation problem it is most likely related to your scenery list being messed up.

Can you be more specific in explaining your problem on where does this happen and how you start your situation, do you have ORBX? etc... That would help.

That same thing started happening to me yesterday. The only change I could attribute it to was having installed the Orbx Socal region, when previously I had been flying in PNW. I found that if I started a flight at a PNW airport I would be stationary at 2,000 or 3,000 feet until I tried to move, in which case I would fall towards the ground. Socal airports were okay. Then I discovered that when I loaded a saved situation at a PNW airport things went back to normal. I have yet to see if the problem recurs.

Dunno if this matches your experience, but it sounds similar.

Exactly. Just slew it forward, you'll be on the field.

Yes I do have orbx. Global, and NA open LC. My saved default flight is at KTNP airport, and when I load a flight at that airport my aircraft is on the ground. Also, in every scenario, my ai traffic is perfectly on the ground even though I might not be. And I have never tried slew mode. I don’t even know what it’s for.

Alsoooooo I would like to note that none of this was going on before I manually added JetStream Designs KLIT airport into my scenery library. So that could be it as well. I had to manually add the airport, and the mesh to my scenery list. And that’s when this all started...

Did nothing happen when you deactivate the KLIT entries?

Okay guys so I think I solved the issue! I believe it was my saved default flight that was causing the problems! I reverted back to the P3D default scenario and after that any flight I started was all planted on the ground. I even tried spawning at different airports I was having issues with and they all seem to be back to normal. SEEM TO BE. As we all know in simulation, once you think you have a problem solved.....
