Is windows 10 better than 7 in xp11 VR

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Is win10 better for VR than win7

I have i7. 2600k @ 4.5 ghz

Gtx970 overclocked and 32Gb of ram.

Would going to win 10 be a good thing for me?

Thanks for your wisdom!

for pure performance, go Linux 😁 (but you will loose out on some add-ons).

EDIT: just realized that the question is about VR. X-Plane VR on LInux is not yet there.

I don't think it would matter if you have windows 7 or 10, as X-Plane works on OpenGL. Also you bottleneck is your video card, the Geforce 970 struggles as it is when going to the limit of available VRAM, because of the design. For VR, one of the 10xx range cards is recommended, with a minimum of VRAM onboard (talk 1060 and up, higher is better).

Tnx

Yeah I know I need a 1080 but the money isn't there. I will need a new mb and I want the next gen VR headset someday.....

Until then I was thinking about updating win 10 for free. If it helps me for let's say 5 percent then that would be great.

Inalso fly DCS afs2 and P3d so maybe it would be beneficial for those sims.

Thanks for your thoughts!!

Even a 1070 is enough for VR, the trouble is that VR is not that good enough yet. The cockpit is amazing, but the gauges are not clear and not easy to read.

Wait for 2nd generation VR.

X-Plane 11 and P3D v5 hotfix 2  🙂

System specs: Windows 10  Pro 64-bit, i9-9900KF  Gigabyte Z390 RTX-2070, 32GB RAM  1X 1TB M2 for X-Plane 11, 1x 500GB SSD for P3Dv5, 1x256GB SSD for OS.

I have a rift btw. I'm looking for that few extra fps. Spending douch money on a 1080 and gaining some supersampling is not worth it right now. In a few years VR will be a lot more amazing. I'll spend the money then I guess. We need a substantial improvement over the rift and the way things are now.

Thanks for your thoughts

Windows 10 is better than Windows 7

But I would say Windows 7 is better than Windows 8

So don't go Windows 8 whatever you do
