P3DV4, Alabeo Piper Light Sport aircraft, and Jackson Hole photoreal

Recommended Posts

Overnight I have been building Wyoming photoreal scenery with FSEarthtiles, which borders the Colorado scenery I have here in Avsim's file library.  I am using a high compression ratio to keep the textures crisp while flying, and I love the preliminary results, with about half of Wyoming done.  Given P3D's wonderful mesh I could not be happier with the results so far.  Love the way P3DV4's cloud shadows play on the scenery, a feature I think the program excels at compared to those sims that have them, and especially the MSFS series which did not.

I have been seeing/flying a lot of MSE lately, and I have to say the mountain textures on your shots look fantastic especially because I think you are not at that high an altitude. What altitude you have for these pictures?

Of course being able to create this by yourself must be very satisfying!

I am using level 2 for my accuracy, whatever level 2 means.  Going lower than that, to 1, takes up too much bandwidth and disk space.  I agressively compressed these textures because I wanted to accept the tradeoff between color separation and disk space, and I am very pleased with the results.  FSE is a great interface, but I had to buy MSE for the coastal states (except Oregon, which I partially rendered), because I just do not know how to do coastlines, having tried every tutorial and having come up with lousy results.

If I am up to it I might add Wyoming to the library here as an addition to my Colorado scenery already present.  It is just a chore to zip everything up into a package, since Avsim has size limitations on the projects we add to its Library.
