Autobrake not set to 3 after App Brief

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just bought FS2Crew 737 during this past summer sale.  Just figuring out things everyday.  I did notice that at times right after I do App Brief and set the Autobrake setting in it.  The FO during the later parts of the checklists puts Autobrake to 2 and not to 3.

And sometimes, when I saw flaps any setting - he doesn't move it (and yes the speeds are safe and correct to do so).

Interesting quirks here.

Any idea about the Autobrake? I am using SOP 1 with US1 Crew.

Thanks

I am doing another flight to test.

But this is exactly what happened.

I setup the app brief with data (autobrake 3), and did not even say "lets start setting up descent".

Now when I say "Lets start setting up descent", the Copilot sets up the Autobrake Data and this all prior to App Brief play.

Weird.  It is like copilot is setting up App brief data when "lets start setting up descent" procedure is called and app brief play.

Based on tutorial 1

Approach Brief comes after Descent Procedure

What is the exact moment the FO is re-setting the autobrake?

During the stage when I say " Lets start setting up descent " and I usually setup the App Brief only prior to saying it.  This is when the FO is doing its procedures.

I'm a bit lost here so I tried it.

1. On the Config Page, I selected SOP1 because mine was in SOP 2 mode.

2. I selected Level 3 in the Approach Brief for the autobrake.

3. The Mode was "<Descent Procedure>" on the FS2Crew Main Panel.

4. I said "Lets start setting up for the descent".

5. The FO did his flow and set the Autobrake to Level 3.

That all worked fine and was in line with the manual.

Maybe I am interpreting something wrong here.  And Please correct me if I am wrong.  It is just the way it is written in SOP 1 which could be confusing me.

This is from SOP 1

DESCENT PROCEDURE
 Approximately 150 miles back of the Top of Descent, Open the SECONDARY PANEL.
 Press APP to open the APPROACH BRIEF PAGE.
 Make your desired selections by pressing the Left Line Select buttons on the Approach Brief Page.
 You need to manually enter altitudes for the Decision Altitude, Missed Approach Altitude and Final Approach Fix.
 Enter the desired value in the scratch pad, then press the left LSK button associated with the field you wish to update.
Do NOT run the Approach Brief yet. The Approach brief comes at the end of the Descent Procedure.
 Speak: “LETS START SETTING UP FOR THE DESCENT”.
 That is the trigger for both crew members to start their descent procedure.

So based on the highlighted portion, FO sees the Approach Brief data without me running it.

I figured all that entered data is read when App Brief is clicked on panel to run and not before it.

Nope, the data is still read even when you don't run (play) the Approach Brief.

Oh, then it looks like it is working as defined.  It just was not clear to me from the way it was written on SOP that data is read even if Approach Brief is run or not.

I guess we can mark the issue closed

Thanks for the help
