If I update my P3DV4 Content

Featured Replies

Up until now I have only updated my client. I have read through the install sections from poppet etc on how to do stuff, and I see there is a need to run Central for Orbx stuff....but.

If I update the Content does this mean that I will need to reinstall scenery and planes?

Content doesn't affect scenery and only affects default a/c. If you have an a/c that installs it's own scenery it should be fine.

You can see below as to what folders are removed and updated during the update process

Install_ Content.msi - Scripts, redist, SimObjects, Weather, Scenarios, Ecosystem, Fonts, Autogen,

Remember, the installers will not remove or overwrite any files installed by 3rd parties UNLESS it is a p3d file that had been modified by the 3rd party. Nothing is deleted except native p3d files.

Thanks for this more detailed info, however, if SimObjects is deleted which is required before applying an updated Content, then all the planes from third parties will be deleted...correct? Which would mean all the 3rd party planes would be broke and I would need to reinstall and add in any mods.

Or are you saying that only the original P3D gauges, sounds and airplanes etc are deleted from within those folders and all my payware for instance will be left untouched?

PMDG installs seem to be fine, as they are in the simobjects directory as in FSX.

However, FSLabs install in the Prepar3D Addons folder, and you may have to point your sim to this folder from the settings menu.

Hi, I don't believe that is what happens, it will just delete the default P3D files from SimObjects, but will leave any addons in there. It will only delete files that P3D put in there, not 3rd parties.

Cheers,
