EFB Runway database update

Featured Replies

I have the latest airac installed for PMDG, but the runway database is still outdated in the EFB (ex. RW 14/32 at PANC instead of 15/33). Is there a separate update for this?

The EBF will scan the scenery files you have, and this has nothing to do at all with navdata used by the FMS.  If you have the default PANC then the scenery files will be 14/32.  The latest Aerosoft PANC for P3Dv4 has the correct runway numbers.

You'll find this a common occurrence so it helps to understand what comes from the scenery and what comes from navdata.

The EFB / ND database takes its information directly from the scenery AFCAD, which may not be current. If you position your aircraft on the threshold of runway 14/15, which numbers do you see painted there when looking out the windscreen?

Well I ran into the same issue but cannot fix it. I have Cycle 1811 installed and the latest Version of PANC, which shows in P3Dv4 in the Airport Menu for PANC the RWY 15.

When I load the B737 all is good.

When I load the B747-8F I get an error on the DEP page in the FMS

I checked for double AFCAD and deleted the one for PANC in ORBX SAK.

Any idea to look out for?

That‘s a completely different issue...

when the runway isn‘t found in the FMS then it isn‘t available in the actual navdata file in the PMDG folder. I‘d recommend to update the navigraph files.

But as you say it‘s ok in the 737 you might also delete the ARPT_RWY.dat file in the PMDG navdata folder. It will rebuild.

If I‘m wrong Kyle or Chris will likely have the correct answer 😄

The Aerosoft version?  Otherwise, I assume you have Orbx FTX SCA region and it includes an Anchorage that  must be turned .OFF if you install a 3d party one.

Regardless.... anytime you see a RWY NA message that is unexpected please first delete the ARPT_RWY.dat file.  It will get rebuilt on the next load of either 777 or 747.  It is an FMS cache file not used by the NGX.

Dan, as said in my post I already deleted the PANC file from ORBX SAK.

Anyhow, deleting the  ARPT_RWY.dat file cured the issue!

Thanks for your help.
