August 31, 200619 yr This is a fantastic plane and panel package but the gauges won't load in WIN98. They only work with XP. I was just wondering if anyone had a fix maybe for their own enjoyment but haven't uploaded it or something. We have so many talented folks around here, i just have to think someone has worked on it. If so, would it be pretty easy to fix?God bless,Earl
August 31, 200619 yr The HJG forum (on their website - http://www.simviation.com/hjg/) states explicitly that the gauges are not compatible with Win98. You might ask for a Win98 version over there, but it seems unlikely that there will be much enthusiasm for making one since Win98 is completely out of date and un-supported by MS.DJ
August 31, 200619 yr You might try going to Microsoft's site and downloading GdiPlus. This sometimes allows gauges created for XP to work in earlier versions of Windows (which did not include GdiPlus). Before I upgraded from WIN ME to XP I had quite a bit of success using packages, including payware packages with this method.Regards,Van
September 1, 200619 yr I have a fair number of HJG 707s and use two different panels for them, one by Chris Alevritis, the other by Paul Golding. They are both fantastic specifically for the 707. I think the Paul Golding panel being quite old will probably work under WIN98. The file name at the AVSIM library was pg7072k2.zip when I last downloaded it and it's an exe file. It is a stunning panel and highly authentic. Try it and see.Good luck!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
September 1, 200619 yr Speaking of the HJG panels, there are many 707 varients. It isn't clear which one might be most appropriate for the KC135R model.scott s..
September 2, 200619 yr Scott, the HJG panels are a reaonable representation for a typical type 707 although the afformentioned packages are far more authentic! Unfortunately though, none of these is representative of the KC-135 variant; USAF have almost completely redesigned the panel to where it bears resemblance to the original 707!I would suggest a search of flightdecks at Airliners.com to see how it looks, and then have a look around the Avsim library, and a couple of the other more popular FS sites for something more suitable: "Kc135_panel.zip" is available here for instance, though I believe that it was fitted to certain 'E' models.I've downloaded a couple in the past but they're on a different drive which is not currently connected (after recent rebuild) and I don't recall file names, sorry! There's not much about though, which led me to do a lot of modifying and merging of gauges, repainting bitmaps, etc to come up with something that more closely resembles the real thing! I never did get it to a standard where I'd be truely comfortable uploading it, though if you're interested, I could email you with what I have so far....If you do find something decent out there, please let us know in this thread...I'm always interested :)
