November 23, 20187 yr This confirms a broader system issue indeed. Here is "how to" event viewer: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-3128616/windows-event-viewer.html Otherwise, I'm wondering if you could try out this to 'repair' any possible system issue: Method 1: Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. It will scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows. To run the SFC scan, refer to the Microsoft article below. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Method 2: DISM Refer to the steps below: Open the start screen and type "cmd" Right click on the command prompt and click on "Run as administrator". Type the following commands and hit enter after each. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth Once you run these commands, restart the system and check. You may also refer to, Fix Windows corruption errors by using DISM or System Update Readiness tool https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821 Let me know the results once you have tried these methods. November 23, 20187 yr I'm not sure how useful is the "Get-AppXPackage" command given the Microsoft article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/appx/get-appxpackage?view=win10-ps Now the question remains, why installer(s) cannot write to the desktop, which is a fairly standard procedure otherwise. At this stage, we can think of either a virus, or an anti-virus, and any other 'tool' which is running in the background supposedly to assist in having a better/safer computer and are usually doing worse. One thing to try out is rebooting in safe mode and trying an installer again and check whether it succeeds in writing a shortcut to the desktop.

I think I found it: Since the update 1809 you can set protection against ransomware in the windows settings of virus and threat protection. I have now unchecked this and so I will have to wait and see if this entry will still occur during the next update of gtn 750. With other updates I will no longer see this message and desktop shortcuts will be created. X-Plane 11 -My favorite aircraft F33A BONANZA XPLANE 11 REP , CAR PREMIER 1A

Another tip was to create a new account as administrator and now the log files are written to documents. So it was true that windows defender was the culprit. I now wait for the next update to verify that the problems are resolved X-Plane 11 -My favorite aircraft F33A BONANZA XPLANE 11 REP , CAR PREMIER 1A

November 28, 20187 yr I am also having this problem. I decided to wipe my computer out and start XP11 over with all ortho's etc. Once I installed my 650 and 750, nothing. I tried reinstalling it and other setting but it just shows up black. Is there anything I can do help troubleshoot.
